harf maasoom the, mahkoom the, mahsoor bhi the
lafz masloob hue haunToN pe aa ke tere
tu ke aisaar thi, jhhankaar thi, mahkaarh bhi thi
muddatoN jahal ke tareek shabastaanoN meN
zinda dargor hui aur jalaayi bhi gayi
tu ke har roop meN hi be-bas-o-majboor rahi

phir bhi tahseen ke laayeq hai tera azm-e-jawaaN!
tu ne jaNgeN bhi laRhiN, jaam-e-shaadat bhi piya
tu ne khuTbe bhi diye shaam ke baazaaroN meN
tu ne fitrat ko badal daala tha deeN ki khaatir
teri hasti hai zamaane ke liye masha-e-raah
tere qadmoN ke tale jannat-e-firdos bhi hai
zindagi tere liye azmat-e-meraaj bhi hai

aankhn men noor to rangooN meN haya baaqi hai
tiirah zahanoN ke liye teri jala baaqi hai
tujh se qaayem hai zamaane meN muhabbat ka chalan
dast-e-qaatil bhi tere saamne larzaaN larzaaN
tu ne maznil ko taraasha hai jawaaN himmat se
daT gayi rah meN hamesha to chiTaanoN ki tarah
tera har roop wafaa, issat-o-namoos baqaa

phir bhi har daur meN mardoN ki ataayat ki hai
tu ne iss tarah bhi duniya meN ibaadat ki hai
