Team needed him.He shouldn't have retired on 'ego' related issues. That is selfish.

He could serve the team only as a captain. His performance(apart from the WC where he was lucky enough to grab highest number of wickets;courtesy minnows) doesn't justify even his inclusion into the team.

It's good to say goodbye to cricket prior to being kicked out.yahan bezat kar k nikala jata hai(e.g.waseem,waqar etc),and I can't see him humiliated, so said k he made the right decision of leaving cricket before cricket could leave him.

Don't worry guys u will see in a few days time he will held a press conference and say " main ne pakistan team k wasi tar mafad main apni retirement wapis lane ka faisla kia hai" These are all tactics to increase his importance in the team but i will say a real selfish approach

Well I don't think he was in any danger of being kicked out of the team..He was a good enough bowler to hold his place in the team for the next 2 years atleast..

The problem in our cricketer's mentality is that they consider emotions, ego and self-respect above overall good of cricket...

On the other hand selectors and PCB high-ups, through their epitome inefficiency and mismanagement, ensure that the above trend persists...

The need is that both cricketers and the board ought to end war-games and leg-pulling and exercise some professional maturity...

Bad decision Afridi...

Unhappy

Ijaz Butt is detroying the team. In his chairmanship PCB looks like a bunch of stupids.

dair aaye durust aye

over the years he surely has emerged as good bowler but it's not something which cannot be replaced. i guess he should go and rest. rather he should have gone much earlier in fact immediately after his fastest century.
well actually we people lack ethics and values. when in accordance with the code of conduct of the board he's been stopped from giving any extraneous statements to the media, why then every time he's seen on television talking about players and the board. this only shows, he prefers valuing his individuality more than actually valuing the team and the board. aijaz butt is being targeted by everyone.. but why..??!! is he a player who would go into the field and perform on behalf of players.. it's media which portrays the images.. they're informative but at the same time they're big iconoclast as well. i never saw anybody complaining for any failures when once a retired fouji used to be chairman of the board..

anyways thanks mr afridi for sparing us..!!

Afridi has done more harm to Pakistan cricket than benefit..Because of him, every child now wants to hit the ball out of the park and become an instant hero...Because of him people have forgotten such legends as Hanif Muhammad,Inzamam ul Haq,Miandad,Zaheer Abbas and Salim Malik---people who showed the triumph of brain over brawn, and patience over glamour..The day children started copying his rash batting style was the day our decline started..Just see the meek surrender by Pakistani batting line in the 1st test against W.Indies..We need more Inzamam's,Misbah's and Yousuf's,players who can fight it out when the going gets tough..Not someone who would come, hit a six and get out the next ball..And SURELY we don't need a captain like him..an irresponsible leader ain't a leader..yeah but we could use his bowling for the next couple of years..
