thanks for that...they have said the requirement is MBA or equivalent degree. Does that equate to 16 years of education? Because I have a UK BSc Hons degree and I'm not sure if I'm eligible...although everywhere else I've applied I have always met the minimum requirement. NBP's online application is too brief to explain anything.

[FONT="Book Antiqua"]Yes, Rizla. Its enough to apply. They want 16 years of education, and you have that. Doesn't matter if it was B.Sc or M.Sc. However you can e-mail them at the address provided under the application. Human Resource Departments are always more than happy to help

Only MBAs ( MPAs for HRM ) can apply for the post as they have mentioned catgoricaly. No other qualification of any nature would be considered to its equivalent. NBP is a Govt Owned bank and they are very strict regarding the criteria laid down by them thus I would advise the Non MBA to not waste thier time and energy in applying for the post.

Well yeah they have mentioned MBA but they've also stated any other equivalent degree will suffice which is what I'm trying to find out. I was eligible for SBP (but I missed the deadline), I don't see why I shouldn't be eligible for NBP. 16 years of education is a norm for all banks. Even if I don't meet the criteria I don't see how applying anyway would waste my time.

Though I will tell you you're right; they don't seem to have much of a vision when it comes to Equivalancies. Last time, they passed over an MPhil Finance friend of mine. He didn't even get called for the TEST!!![/FONT]

Basic Crieteria for State Bank(SBOT) is 16 yeras of education in selected fields.As for as NBP is concerned previously ,the required qualification for the batches inducted in 2004-05-06 included M.COm and DAIBP alongwith MBAs but now they have discountinued this practice and entertain only MBAs.

As for as suitability of other qualification having the same syllaby as MBA is concerned ,they have very limited approach regarding this.Otherwise for positions in compliance,risk mamngemnt and treasury ,Professinal accountants are more suitable than MBAs.

Tell you 1 thing more ,HR Heads in natinalised commercial banks are not basicaly HR Professinal?Yes they are career bankers who reach at the high position while working in field previously so they are normaly conservative about the critera.

NBP has recetly started the practice to induct MTs in differnt filed otherise they use to induct MTs generaly (under one catagory)and afterwards they were deputed in differnt fields after training.

Written Test schedules for only agricultur officers(MTs) have been announced.Institute of Bankers Pakistan conduct will conduct this test.details given hereunder

The written recruitment test for positions of “Agriculture Credit / Agriculture Field Officers” in National Bank of Pakistan would be held on Sunday, September 06, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, simultaneously, at Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta. The individual Admit Cards for the test have been dispatched to the eligible candidates at their respective addresses as written in their CV / online application form.



The minimum criteria for the selection of candidates for the tests were:

1. Qualification : Four years BS (Hons.) Agriculture or M.Sc in Agriculture or BE (Agriculture)

2. GPA : Minimum 3.0 out of 4.00 or 3.7 out of 5.00 or 70%

writen test for audit MTs is scheduled on 27th of this month.Call letter have been sent to canidates in this regard, while test for other department is expected to be held in the next month.

Thanks alot Saleeqa Batool for such a valuable information. In the previous post i forwarded a query with respect to some info needed. Today my brother discussed your post and then he checked the IBP website for the list of candidates from karachi centre. Unfortunately his name is not in the list of IS-AUDIT.

My query is if the qualification needed for IS-AUDIT is as you mentioned in your post = IS AUDIT: MBA (MIS) / MBA (IT)/MCS /MS Computer Science

How come is it possible that a candidate with B.E/B.S (Software) is not in the list. Technically MCS = B.E

Please put some light over it.

These Govt institutions follow the strict crietera laid down in the advertisement.You are right that BE is equavalent to MCS but it is not known to the people processing the application.You are better advised to call directly call Dr Mirza Abrar Baig ,Head of HR to bring the issue in his notice.You must tell him that 4 years bachlor has been declared equvalent to masters degree by HEC.i am sure that he himself would be aware of it .The people processing the applications are nomraly low grade officers or clerks not aware of these types of technicalities.

Plz call him as early as possible.

If you have recived call letter ,it is also accompnied with a sample test.Following areas are to be examined ,as per previous practices, in the test.

1-English Grammer
2-Vocab
3-General Knwledge
4-Accounting Knowledge
5-Reasoning
6-Basic Mathematics

The time left is calculated requiring smart approach.One must recall and refresh the concepts on above areas.Though it was mentioned in the add that test would be of Gmat Type but it might appear be much differnt from GMAT.

I tried to contact him but his staff is very much co-operative :) They tried everything Like he is in meeting etc etc crap so people may not come in contact with him, well that was just a single reply :) leave the rest of the replies.
One of the senior manager says its all done at IBP side , we dont have any involvement with respect to screening out the candidates.

Now i am just thinking over onething what would be the replies from IBP side :)

donot lose heart so early. those clerks are often very hectic to handle.
but it doesnot mean u leave the chance.

keep trying
call IBP or visit their office personally.

Then you must call Nazir Ahamad Shaikh Sb of IBP:021-5680783.Tell him the entire story .He is a very nice person and i am sure he will guide you to the right direction.
Rember if you call some one els in IBP they will simply put the bar on NBP's HR department.

despite of all this fact they have rejected me . so injustice
i dont kw wy they have introduce this honor degree which they arent considering it as master
condem harshly and severly
so inhamane treatment
wid our our youth having 4 years honor bec degree.

so there i will also be under blind eye of management.

Brother you must not get too distressed.Case of Askari Bank is differnt fronm NBP.I am sure you will recive call from Askari because its HR department is mamnged by professionals. In the case of NBP ,although its higher mangement of HR is competent but being a Govt bank its structure is a bit bureaucratic.Its processing of application is carried by clerical satff as in other governmental organisation.In spite of this ,i advise you to not lose heart and contact Nazir Ahmad Shaikh of IBP quite immidiatley.I am sure he will advise you better.

I have done B.E in computer system and did not get any info or call letter and as i see the list in IBP site , i am also not in the list.

I just want to ask :

Why such ediots are hired at NBP , they cant screen the right candidate how will they select and hire the right candidate. I feel good i did not get into the list of such bank which is so incompetent . and if you have some contacts to higher officials , please send my message to them .

Stop making fool to people and yourself. Every mankind has to answer his good or bad deeds at the day of judgement , what will they do then. what source would they hire to escape.

Brother instaed of showing outbrust you must contact either IBP or NBP.i respect your views but let me inform you that NBP's higher management consist of professional of calibre.MTs selection procedure is very much transparent.It is unjust to blame the whole organisation on a single incidence.

As for as your grievence is concerned ,it is genuine but the people handling your applications are constrainted to strictly follow certain rules especaily in Govt organisation.you might know that jobs announced through PPSC and FPSC donot consider an MBA equavalent to MCom though the syllabus of courses is almost same.The reason for this stuborness is a bureaucristic structure of these organisations.As eligibility criteria is set by top mangement ,normaly Board of directors , and these people are not acquinted to modern educational structure.Once they lay down the rules , the lower staff is required follow it strictly.It seems odd in the current scanrio ,but it has its merits as well.People follwing the criteria are given full chance of participation in recruitment process.Contrary to this, in private and forign banks, applications are processed with some pre concieved notions regarding universities.They only shortlist applicants from well reputed private universities while other application go to dust bin.

Well the hierarchy of NBP and other commercial Banks is as under

Initial salary of MTO is 30000/= along with 3 annual bonuses ,one performance and two Eid.
(Other allowance include free Medical for spouse ,children and parents , marriage allowance and Delivery allowance )

Staff Loan facility at subsidized rate (House Building,Car,Motorcycle and Computer)
End of service benefits: Medical and contributory PF


salary of AVP

Total Package exceeds 100000/=
along with 120 Litre Petrol
if posted BM then BM allowance(Rs 10000 PM almost)
almost 75000 PA Leav Fare Assistance
and other benfits.

NBP also provide a company maintained Vehicle to VP and above cadres.A VP get 1000 CC Cultus along with 200 Litre Petrol and 16000PA maintenance charges. Vehicle is written of after the period of 5 years and replaced with new one.The holder has the opportunity to purchase it from bank at Book value.

AVP can also get a vehicle if his /her functional title is entitled.Some AVPs are working as Regional Mangers /Audit Center Chiefs and in this capacity they are entitled to avail company maintained car.
However now other banks have changed the practice and instead of providing car they offer the employee to obtain a car of their choice and get it financed from that Bank .Then Bank pay the monthly installemnts of that vehcle.
