Default IB post help

It is a very dangerous job. IB is a spy agency so the job is probably related to espionage and tasks related to the security of the country.ISI is the agency related to external intellegence of the country while IB looks after the internal security threats the country is facing. The job has become very dangerous especially due to the current situation in the country. A lot of IB officials have been kidnapped recently by the taliban and some have been remorselessly executed. An IB Director was gunned down recently in NWFP.

By Desk-cum-field (Intelligence functions), they mean that the nature of job is of intelligence but you might be assigned official work or field work. Like you may have to work while being at your desk or in the field. This is as per my understanding....

I am not sure about the exact pay or benefits but obviously these wont be less than general Grade-17 officers.

About the progress I have heard that IB is better than MoD in this regard as promotions are much more frequent. One of my relatives became the DD (Deputy Director) after about two years of joining as AD.

ISI and IB haven’t divided the duties as within and outside the country but both work in totally different spheres. ISI has its functions inside and outside the country, both military and civilian ones but they report to the army chief. IB on the other hand is a federal government agency. You are right "IB looks after the internal security threats the country is facing" still there is much more.. How come they report about the performance of CSP officers and they investigate complains against them as well ?
