Question PMS Punjab or IBA.

Dear fellow members AOA,
I desperately need your inputs wheather PMS Punjab is better or IBA posts of Assistant Director is better in the context of future prospects. In which field chances of promotion or far better,I hope all of you will respond to my query.
I am highly obliged and thankful to Mr.Tabbasum who first floated the news that FPSC has initiated the process of IBA posts. But I have one query to you brorther Tabbasum H ave you any information wheather the FPSC is going to enhance upper age limit of taking CSS examination or not as there was a news in the News on 09/08/2011 that the FPSC has asked the govt.to enhance the upper age limit of taking CSS examination.I hope you will definitely provide a more authentic and reliable information in this regard.
Thanks.

At this point of time get Caravan's General Knowledge and APtitude Test book as well as GRE book. And keep reading newspapers and exploring wikipedia for general things related to geography, history, everyday science etc. Also can take good EDS book of CSS.

1). PMS or IB, hmmm there is greater room of discussion in this regard, many people regard PMS better thn IB due to many facts viz, its a cader post, one can get good administrative power posts, one remain social and not necessarily required to do undercover work, there is greater chance of deputation in other departments, one has financial powers etc.

I would prefer IB because of many things, pricks and privileges are good, newsance value is there, you are not necessarily intimidated by political cronies :P, lot of virtual powers are held by you, many things can be done by you etc...... Even as per my thinking IB is quite better thn many css occupational groups except DMG and PSP. But people may have their own understanding..... Similarly a friend has told that last year one AD IB joined PMS and another two had a choice for IB and PMS and they joined PMS.

2). Promotion criterion varies, a person who joined PMS in 2005 is still in 17, but a person who joined IB in 2005 is in 18 .... but in such spy agencies all over the worlds more operatives are required to be at junior levels so there may not be good number of posts at 22-21 level thus that remains an issue.

3). Extension of age for css may be under discussion, but it should not be taken more thn rumour/hearsay because nothing is final till notification to that effect is issued...

Question CSS "Age Relaxation Policy".

Dear Brother Tabbasum AOA,
Thanks for your immediate reply. But, I am still in confusion that when a news regarding “Age Relaxation” appeared in a national news paper and the FPSC does not respond to its publication (Below is the news)

“FPSC ASKS GOVT TO ENHANCE UPPER AGE LIMIT OF CANDIDATES”
MUMTAZ ALVI
TUESDAY, AUGUST 09, 2011

Islamabad:The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has approached the government for reverting to the 30-year age limit for CSS aspirants, which was reduced to 28 years in 2001 by Pervez Musharraf, The News learnt here on Saturday. FPSC sources claimed the commission has approached the Establishment Division in this regard, hoping Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani would not have any objection to fulfilling a long-standing demand of hundreds of thousands of youth, who wanted to take part in the competitive exams but could not due to the lower age limit. Former military ruler Musharraf, through an ordinance, without consulting anyone, had lowered the upper age limit from 30 years to 28 years, for those interested in appearing in the competitive exams. The minimum age limit is 21 years. These sources pointed out that the PPP-led government twice set aside the initiative but this time they expect the totally unjustified and arbitrary measure of a military ruler would be reversed. It was learnt from a senior official that this year 9062 candidates appeared in the CSS exams and this number had been fluctuating from time to time. However, on average 9000 candidates have been taking part in the specialised exams in recent years but this number could go significantly up once the age limit is increased. The age limit in South Asian countries, including India and Bangladesh, is 30 years. In all, a candidate gets three chances to clear the exam. This correspondent had approached law minister Moula Bakhsh Chandio over a month ago and he had promised to get back soon but that day has not come yet. “It is a good question. But off hand, I can’t say anything in this context. I shall contact you within 24 hours,” was his response to the question asked by this correspondent at that time whether any proposal was under consideration to undo this age limit imposed by Musharraf a decade ago.Afterwards, several attempts were made to contact him on his mobile but to no avail and even short messages (SMS) sent to him on the subject were not answered.

However, sources conceded that the lowering of age had hit hard those belonging to the lower middle and middle class segments of society. Some CSS aspirants visited the offices of this newspaper the other day and wanted immediate reversal of the age limit cut. “We are from lower and middle class and for us after doing BA or MA, the first and foremost concern is always how to lessen the financial burden of our family,” these youth said. They noted lower and upper age limit and the related rules were thrashed out by a democratic dispensation after a concerted exercise but a military ruler had changed it in one go, and this continued to deprive thousands of youth from appearing in the CSS exams every year. These youth argued that in view of the dismally low literacy rate and compounding economic hardships, it was already becoming very difficult for the young generation to spare time and energies to take part in the competitive exams. The government has turned down two summaries regarding age relaxation for CSS exams in recent months despite increasing upper age limit by five years for all BPS posts, barring the CSS aspirants. According to the decision, the upper age limit for CSS remained unchanged while for the other posts under the federal ministries, departments and FPSC has been increased up to 5 years for all BPS posts. The youths contended it was sheer injustice to CSS aspirants, especially those who have become over-aged as per CSS rule. All provinces have given general age relaxation in all combined competitive examinations except FPSC .They urged for giving at least 5-year age relaxation for CSS exams. It is pertinent to note that five-year age relaxation was given on the strong recommendations of the senate standing committee.”

When such news appears in media and the FPSC does not respond it means that the news is correct and the “Age Relaxation” is on the table. Let us pray to Almighty Allah that this time it is approved. Brother, I was asking in this context that if you have any source in FPSC at least confirm it.
Thanks
Take care
Gul Khan.

@ Gul Khan, dear dont make any hope for it, because its not finalized yet. Lot of proposals are tabled and rejected/deferred so nothing is final till time it is aired in form of notification/assent by the competent authority.
