Default Passion vs Reality

Dear Members Assalamoalaikum,

I hope you are well today.

I remember a post I made some years ago when like many of you guys I was living in my world of dreams as an ASP, unfortunately, like many people my issue was time and also the fact that I am in the Oil & Gas industry and alhamdulillah income has been well, however, as much as I enjoy this industry, my heart is elsewhere.

I have been in London since I was 13 (12 years now), I have gained a degree in BA (Hons) Business Management at a very low pass rate of 49%.

I have been a top performer at every company I joined and therefor alhamdulillah I am at a good role right now and have made some very good contacts.

I think I have spoken enough and I need to get to the point, I want to come back to Pakistan and I have been looking at I.B, F.I.A, I.S.I, ANTI NARCOTICS AND NAB as alternatives to CSS.

Please advise first of all whether I have the chance to sit any of these exams as A.D with my current highest level of education. In years this would be 16 years of education but at a degree with 49%.

Please advise, I am coming back to Pakistan soon just for this, I hope someone will guide me correctly.

Thanks to you all in advance.

Regards

Dear Brothers,

Thanks for responding.

To the brother who advised to stick with the petroleum industry:

I very much appreciate your advise, I know where you are coming from because this is not the first time I have heard this. My brother I am in the petroleum industry only helping myself, I am not in the position to do any good for the people around me. Since I have been young I have gone out of my way to help people and I do not like the feeling of my hands being tied. This is why I am feeling to join the organisations which I mentioned to you. I have heard some bantor about following orders which sometimes are not Halal, however, I am sure this is just bantor?

To the second brother I agree with you, however, my question has still not been answered. Can someone please advise me that with 16 years of education, highest qualification as BA (Hons) with 49% and experience in the petroleum industry dealing with Oil & Gas Companies and Ministries, what options are open to me in ISI, FIA, Anti Narcotics, I.B or NAB.

All help is very much appreciated.

Regards

Hello Shikva,

Thanks again for responding.

I was under the impression that 28 years is the age limit for CSS and 30 years is the age limit for I.B, FIA etc.

Please advise.

Thanks

AoA

i). Such a passion is highly appreciated and needed at every tier of government machinery.

ii). Yes there is no issue of educational qualifications, as ANF, FIA, IB, ISI and NAB usually have requirement of Masters' degree for entry.

iii). There is as such no age limit of 28-30 years for these departments. Usually the upper age limit is around 30-33-35 years.

iv). If you want to come soon to apply for these organizations, then hold for sometime, because at this point of time there are no jobs recruitment open for these organizations. Last AD ISI recruitment process was started from start of 2010 and has yet to be finalized, next recruitment will start once this process is completed. Last AD FIA recruitment was made two years ago and though there are vacant posts in FIA but there is no fix dates for next process. Last AD ANF recruitment process was finalized some months back and such ADs are under training, new process is not likely to be made shortly. Same is the case with IB and NAB, because they have recently made recruitment. So it is very less option that you will be getting any entrance advertisements soon as such it will be better if you wait for a while and when such advertisements are made, you apply while remaining abroad and then come to take exams etc.

v). Another thing, there is a little difference in these organizations, FIA is a law enforcement agency, NAB is an accountability bureau/anti corruption sort of thing, ANF is a force to curb narcotics, while ISI and IB are intelligence agencies.

Hope most of your questions have been answered.

Regards

Brother Mohammad,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

My questions have been answered very well by yourself, however, one final question has arisen.

What do I do right now then?

I mean, do I revise, do I wait, what do I do?

Is there any point revising now? (is every person guaranteed the chance to sit the exam)

Where do I start with revision?

I really look forward to the reply.

Thanks

Regards

i). Wait and revise.

ii). Revision can be reading newspapers, general knowledge things, arithmetic problems etc.

iii). Yes, if a person meets the required conditions, he is guaranteed the chance to sit in the exam.
