Default ETO/ AETO Jobs?

Respected Members Salam.

Is there anyone who can say when these posts will appear ?

Being a female are these jobs suitable?

Is AETO a good and respectable post? and how many years before one becomes full ETO?

One more thing that often troubles me, I have serched this form for answers but sadly did not find much info.

Where does Sind Govt officials / bureaucrats receive training? Do they receive any training ? or its just direct onjob training? Why is there no Provincial level academy like CSA for CSS people where proper grooming could take place?

I know that Police has training centres like Razzakabad in Karachi etc. But what about ETO, Mukhtiarkar , AC, DDO, EDO? No training for them??

Training is essential part of making a good officer, why provinces are paying blind eye towards this issue?

W Salam

To the best of my knowledge, since 1971 Sindh has always been under the PPP rule and who knows how much further. Whether it is ZA Bhutto, Benazir, Zardari or Bilawal, their priorities are always as per their personal interests. No one has ever paid attention to key issues like social reforms, quality education, pure merit, quick justice, peace, infrastructure, environmental challenges, load-shedding, water shortages and more. However, as per your questions, training is a necessary step in order to create an officer of higher caliber. I also had same questions and one of my friends said that Sindh Govt. Officers' trainings are conducted with the affiliation of Federal Government. I am not sure about it, but I guess, he was right, as I have not heard of any training institute in Sindh except those of Teachers (PST, JST & HST) and Police Training Centers (Sakrand, Karachi, & Larkana).

Note: I know I am a junior member and not that much capable of discussing such topics, but I like to get involved in order to learn.

One cannot get direct appointment as an AETO...Its a purely promotee seat....However, ETO anf AETO both are respectable posts . Promotional structure in Excise dept is very slow here in Punjab, & if you get recruited through ppsc as an inspector , You ll become Aeto minimum after 15 years of service ..However, OPS culture is prevailant in the said department...Newly inducted Excise Inspectors got 1 month training in MPDD Lahore....Best of luck...

@ Eyeshah Latif.

Sister, You say that AETO cannot be directly recruited. That must be the case in Punjab. In Sindh one can be appointed AETO according to my knowledge.... But I may be wrong as well. Can you share any further information regarding it like Department policy etc?

Since it appears to me that u know quite a bit about such things ,could u also elucidate about difference in Excise Police and AETO? are they same of different? In another thread of this forum, i read that AETO gets to perform in Excise Police Stations and has similar powers of Police but somewhat limited. True or False?

Thanks in advance

P.S. also define 'OPS' and 'MPDD' :/

P.S. also define 'OPS' and 'MPDD' :/
AETO " ,means Assistant Excise & Taxation Officer and its a promotee post in Punjab...OPS means, "OWN Pay Scale" means an AETO , can Work as an ETO after getting the charge of ETO....OPS culture is prevalent in Punjab because of the shortage of Staff and slow departmental promotions...For example an Excise Inspector, with a consisderable working experience of the assessment of different taxes could be appointed as an AETO, but his scale will be the same of Inspector, whereas, he ll draw salary according to his pay scale but perform the duties of AETO...
MPDD," Means Management & Professional development Department...Which gives training to the Provincial govt employees including the PMS Officers/ ETOs...First time, newly inducted excise inspectors got 1 month training in MPDD in 2016...It was a memorable experience..
After the 18th amendment, provinces ll control the narcotics wing, therefore, Excise & Taxation department has been renamed as Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control department since Sept 2016. Now, Excise ll establish its own prisions...AETO ll be the incharge of Such prisions...Excise dept ll enjoy the power of FIR ...Currently, Excise Police register the FIR against the Drug dealers in Police Stations. All these things ll take some time..Shortage of funds is the main hurdle in the implementation of such plans...So far now, AETO does not enjoy the power of even a Police Inspector. That is what i know about my department.

Thanks Eyesha Sis for wonderful explanation.

You are inspector in Punjab Excise? As a lady what has been ur experience about this department?

Its sad that Inspectors never become ETOS

being in Narcotics division of Excise, does one have any chance of serving in ANF or FIA or there is no chance of leaving Excise dept?

Everbody has its own experience. I was the first female who joined Punjab Excise in July 2014. Other girls of my batch joined in later months. I faced some problems in the beginning, which even a csp female officer could face specially in Public dealing department. I had to listen many pieces of advices from the senior ETIs, Junior clerks &;contables who were feeling quite uncomfortable to work with or under a female inspector but later on they started to accept me and extend their cooperation towards my recovery tasks...An inspector, can become an ETO but after a considerable service. Now, Alhumdolilah, i am completely satisfied with my job. I have seen a long period of unemployment, i even qualified PMS, AD MOD, English Lecturership, Deputy District Accounts officer test but could not come in the orbit of selection. Now, Allah has blessed me with a permanent post in that department which is included in PMS group. Rest always bear in my mind that condition for female is never easy in any department, she has to draw her boundaries & things take time to adjust.
One more thing, never reach on any conclusion on the basis of anyother's experience. Have a very positive mindset.

You can leave Excise department and serve in ANF, FIA on the deputation or by taking the tests for the posts of the said departments.

Dear Sis Eyesha

As I was reading your last post, you reminded YOU of ME

I have attempted many many exams, some I have passed others I could not, and still I have not been able to get a job for myself. Some of the job interviews and tests that I have given and cleared are same as you have mentioned. In total maybe I have applied for more than 30 posts.

Right now I am not exactly unemployed, but doing odd jobs to meet my expenses. At the same time also completing my M.Phil, Life is tough indeed as you have described.

But when I read in the end I read that you have secured a job in a respectable department, I became very happy for you.

All the best for your future, and may Allah help all the people seeking to carve something meaningful out of there lives. Ameen

Once again thanks for the information provided.
