Excise and Taxation Officer, ETO (BPS-17) job specification

Hello,
I want to know that job specification of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO).
1. Is this a powerful post?
2. What do they do?
3. How much they earn salary + other income?

Is ETO comparable to DDO (Revenue)?

jobs are not powerfull...its the ppl who make posts powerfull.
ETO is a good post but has no comparison with DDO-R(now AC)
the 1988 batch ETOs are still in BS-18 whereas ACs of the same batch are secretaries. even SOs of that batch are secretaries ( including the present secretary Excise).
exise has many wings and job specifications very from one to the other.
in property tax they are simlply assessing authority
in Motor Registration wing they r Motor rgistring authority
in Excise (police) wing they are as good as DSPs.
there are some other wings as well including entertainment wing, infrastructure cess , hotel tax , professional tax( in all these wings revenue collection is the main funcaiton.

Bro, now since the DDO-R jobs are rumored to have been removed from the PCS, what is the path one can adopt to become DDO-R or AC? will mukhtiarkar exams be held or even they will be slashed off? Surely the government machinery needs fresh batches of officers in order to keep things running??

Dear please also elucidite the job of Section Officers and what office can he hold and which department does he serve. i have heard that Section Officers are required in most if not all govt. cadres/organisations. Even FIA has Section officers. Is that true? Your comments will be appreciated by many.

Please enlighten the job specification of Section Officer since you yourself are now a section officer. Is this post worth the efforts?
