ROM read only memory also known as permanent memory or non volatile memory. The user can read but cannot write and the data remains even it is switched off.
forexample: BIOS, CMOS setting etc.
Note: Now we have some types of ROM that can also be rewritable e.g EEPROM electrically erasable programmable read only memory.
