Lets see what happens. The only thing I am worried about is not the about the argument or lack of it, but that examiner might think I cheated . I hope he checks the rough sheet.

I thought the answer would be sister if we were talking about "mother's" nephew.

Since the question is about paternal cousins, the answer should technically be cousin.

Most of fellows missed the logic in first sentence, A told B that C is his father's nephew.

@SHELLARE is right so am I and all other friends who wrote Cousins.

Let x be the students who have diet for 52 days. After 20 days, i.e. on 32nd day, when 400 students come, diet is left for 24 days only.

That means 400 students consume a diet otherwise sufficient for 8 days for original no. of students (32 - 24 = 8)

Hence, original students = x = 400/8 = 50 students.
I reckon the other logic to prove you are right could be as follows:

after 20 days, the original food provision left was for 32 days, which was finished in 4 days after the arrival of 400 students.

that makes it a 1 to 8 ratio and hence the original students should be 50, i.e. 50 : 400
