first of all let me tell you that when i took CE-2008 attempt I was waiting for my Module-F result to be announced, I took my f papers in December 2007, so i couldn't get good time to prepare well for CSS. Although I passed CSS but my allocation will not be upto the mark (in Top-3 groups)

Now I am Chartered Accountant ( Alhamdillah)...No social life, work like a machine, no respect in the powerful society (even a constable can slap on your face and you cann't do anything),pay is good but you never lead a company as there will be an IBA graduate over your head, you don't have any say towards the functioning of the country's machinery. After qualifying CA if you want to have a good life you must move outside pakistan.CSS is 10000000000000 times better than CA if u r living in Pakistan.

In CSS although pay is limited but one can always have a side business going. as your knowledge is always with you. You have recognition, have a lot of social recognition, get your problems solved within limits, have a major role to play towards the efficient functioning of the country's machinery. Your kids are respected by others too ( that is also in CA but not that much)

By the way I am the son of a Bureaucrat and I have seen BOTH fields VERY closely and let me assure you, CSS is better for those people who keep their self esteem as a the top priority. (I thin you got the point)
