The schoolmaster as well as the inspector was present there
Both the schoolmaster and the inspector were present there( the article has to be doubled both before the two nouns)

5. The boy denied to take the money.
The boy denied having taken the money.(because the money had already been stolen before the speaker accused him of theft)

6. Between you and I, there is much rea son in what he says.
Between you and me, there is much reason in what he says

8. You have given false witness.
You have given false evidence( words vary in different taste)

9. No sooner he finished his speech when the clapping begin.
No sooner had he finished his speech than the clapping bagan
No sooner did he finish his speech than the clapping began( in meantime)
He had no sooner finished his speech than the clapping bagan

10. The socialist party is as good if not better than any political party.
The socialist party is not as/so good as any other political party(Preserving the real sense of the sentence.)
