Undoubtedly men and women are friends on social networking sites and internet but it is not possible in real life or our society due to its conservative temperament. If we gauge it through Islamic perspective then relations of virtual world carries equal position with real world i.e. both are not allowed.
In professional field interaction is unavoidable and we can't call it friendship it is just interaction between colleagues.
