In my view, Kargil war would have yielded result in Pakistan's favour,had that war being fought about 20 or 30 years ago. No doubt planning was skillful but planners failed to realise the geo-political environment and Nuclear capabiltity of the two nations. Certainly both nations restrained but it was a potential nuclear flash point. It was the reason that it got such attention from around the globe. Those who believe that this issue brought Kashmir on the agenda of the world powers they live in fools paradise. Nothing has been done since than it only added to our image that Hawks are stronger here who have derailed the peace process.
