Default saarc and the role of pakistan

The idea of regional cooperation in South Asia was first mooted contained by November 1980. The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was established when its Charter was formally adopted on Decembers, 1985 by the Heads of State Government of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, South Asia, home to nearly a fifth of humanity, is endowed next to vast natural and human resources.
It was the shared desire of the peoples of South Asia to overcome adjectives problems through mutual cooperation. The primary objective of the Association was, therefore, surrounded by the words of its Charter, "to promote the welfare of the peoples of South Asia and to improve their quality of life".

It has the potential of becoming a vibrant region contained by the world, given its enormous resources in manpower, technology, agricultural and mineral assets, its history and civilization, arts and culture, intra-regional exchanges in the SAARC framework and trade among its Member States can realize much of this potential.

Since the Association's inception, Pakistan have been a supporter of SAARC objectives and has remained an active player on the SAARC platform. It have contributed meaningfully to the establishment, institutionalization and progress of the Association. Pakistan supports a step by step approach for enhancing cooperation and emphasizes the need for better coordination of programs and consolidation of the progress made so far.
