Default 9th grader moves Supreme Court against internet porn

A fifteen-year-old schoolboy, after getting no reply from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and Ministry of Information Technology, has requested the chief justice of Pakistan to take action to curb pornography on internet in Pakistan.

The youth, in his letter to the CJP, has termed internet pornography as the biggest disadvantage of technology, which was affecting the moral and ethical values of the people of Pakistan. The boy has also suggested to restrict media channels from promoting permissiveness.

Abdullah, a 9th grade student from Karachi, has called the chief justice as ‘uncle’ in his letter and requested him to direct the relevant authorities to block porn materials on the internet as it is being done in various Arab states.

“Internet has many advantages in itself but human beings have also added some disadvantages to it and the biggest disadvantage is “Pornography”. Uncle! it is destroying the moral values of our new generation. Due to this our youth is going far from their cultural values. It is our individual and collective responsibility to remove un-Islamic trends from our society. This is possible to block such content from internet. Firstly I contacted PTA to block such websites but they referred me to Ministry of IT. Then I contacted them but they gave me no response. Now uncle, seeing you as last hope I am contacting you to convince you to take notice of this issue and issue immediate order for blocking such websites because every passing time is adding sin in our nation’s register. Uncle don’t think of any other solution. We need to block these websites as is done in many Arab Countries”, the schoolboy’s letter to CJP says.

Regarding the media channels the young boy has written that “Uncle! The other issue is about media. Other than foreign channels working in Pakistan, many but almost all Pakistani channels also show some adult material in their shows. Even in news bulletins which are watched by the whole family. Many Indian songs, big boss, dancing competitions broadcasted in Pakistani channels are promoting permissiveness. Uncle, I request you to take immediate action on this issue. We have little time because we can’t bear any other disaster from Allah.”

This is a big social issue and mostly avoided to be discussed. Members are requested to share their views about this issue. When China a communist state - has tussle with Google over this issue then why not Pakistan should take steps to prevent such things being an Islamic State?
