I think the statement is true, and the extent varies from person to person. Infact the 'unhappiness' can be a 'restlessness', which is the nature of man. but this unhappiness or restlessness doesn't mean a state of 'not well- beinhg' always, in fact this is man's restlessness which made him to develop latest machinery, skyscrappers etc. if this restlessness is removed from man's life, and he's awarded a neverending happiness which is 'satisfation', he'll not try to explore the world.
