14- To preserve our language identity, what measures are needed to be taken?
I need ur personal opinion regarding it.

1)Yes,it does effect not only individual identity but a society can be identified due to its choice of words(see the difference of vocabulary in upper-class,middle or lower-middle class). That is one of the means to categorize humans as well-mannered or ill-mannered.

2)Yes,it does.1)Like a nation suffering from identity crisis,we tend to speak English to sound refined and sophisticated even when it is not necessary. One the other hand, speaking regional language is considered a bad thing.2)Biggest example is our pinglish/or mixture of urdu+english.

3)From the above two answers,it is proved that relationship of language and identity is deep rooted.

4)These factors very important as far as language is concerned. You can see the difference mainly in use of certain vocabulary, sentence structure, grammatical use of different words.History or politics are, though, less important in this regard.

5)Speakers of a particular language decide which language should be given more importance and it closely related to his/her identity.

6)Native language is considered more expressive as opposed to borrowed one.It also depends upon the education and environment of a person that which language he finds more expressive.

7)It can be..plz refer to answer #6.

8)Both negative and positive effects:
Negative:
we started giving undue importance to English language whereas neglected our own lanuages,Which created hindrance in their growth. That's the reason, the script and vocabulary of our local or national language is very tough which is almost incomprehensible. If this situation remains, they can become extinct as a language can only progress when it is simple and used as a major tool of communication(example:simplification of English).
Positive:
Urdu and Regional languages are borrowing many words from English which results in richness and modernization of a language.

9)Borrowing is good.It makes a language rich and more convenient to speak and learn. If Urdu borrows words from English language to an extent,it can become a modern language and can become one of the most spoken language in the world.Same is the case with other regional languages. It will make them diverse and will urge the researchers and linguists to modernize them.

10)Massive borrowing is not the only factor which can make a language extinct. It is also depended upon how many people are using it as a mean of communication in day to day life.Borrowing should not destroy or merge the identity of one language into the other.

11)Yes,very much.To the extent that i am studying it in CSS.

12)Global village and need of moderanization. One more important thing is urbanization as mostly people live in big cities where people from different ethnicity live.So they find it more convenient to speak in national language or English as English is a global language.

13)An equal education system is required in which both language national lagnguage must be given importance and English as an additional international communication tool(example:in china, they teach everything in chinese even all scientific subjects and have established a separate diploma of three years for English language as foreign communication tool).

14)All the institution of society have to play an important role in this regard.

>>Our national language should be made simple(see book of urdu of class 6/7,ghalib ki urdu hoti hai waha..student just don't like to read it at all)Simplification of language

awareness campaigns by government.Important decision should be taken on governmental level.

More and more scientific material should be written in national and reginal languages to compete with English so that students give equal importance to both languages.

Regards.
