If you have read the history enough, you would also be aware that cost of helping Americans was one of the main reasons that triggered revolt against Louie in France.

Your confused buddy, that was the American war of independence. I'm talking about the war of 1812 where the Americans and the British fought to a stalemate (the British won decisively on the sea, but couldn't repeat their successes on land). The Americans tried to attack Canada, but the attack was repulsed and Washington was burned to the ground.

Why do you assume that the Holy Cities will be destroyed in a war with America? They weren't when the Ottomans took control. Saudi Arabia and the Holy Cities are not one thing. I'm sure you know that they have changed hands various times in the course of history. And id Saddam hadn't faced any opposition in the First Gulf War, he would have dared to attack Saudi Arabia in a couple years!

And BTW, lets imagine that the US conducts bombing runs over Saudi Arabia and uses missiles to target civilian as well as military areas, but doesn't actually put any boots on the ground. What will Muslim countries do, then? Will they gather in Riyadh and protest?
