probationary period and contract job are not same,
for contractual jobs, contracts are usually signed for 1-2 years without any hint for further renewal of the contract in your agreement, renewal will depend on your performance and organizations willingness/ requirement of your future services.
however, in case of probationary period, all terms and conditions of the jobs are agreed upon before the pro-period is started, and after successfully completing your pro-period, your status will be upgraded as permanent employee on already agreed terms.
