-Introduction:
A man is social animal. He can not live individually without his basic needs for survival and lead to easy life. Needs may be interests, inspirations, goals, rights, justice and provision of security in order to spend his life. A man forms a family, and family leads to a society, and society needs maintenance and order. In order to sustain and maintain the society a set of laws, beliefs, rules and regulations, customs and integrity is needed. This set of laws, beliefs, rules and regulations, customs and integrity are provided by the religion.

Definition and meaning of religion:
The word religion comes from the Latin word "Religo" which means "binding together". So religion is the relationship between the followers of the religion and the object of devotion(God). In other words religion is the relationship between the followers of the religion who share the same and similar beliefs, concepts and ideas ,and bind them together for the God.

-Importance and needs of religion:
Religion is such type of entity which provides the pivotal role in the human society. The followers of the religion accepted a religion in all the times of past in their lives. Below are the following importance and needs of the religion.
1-It differentiates between right and wrong.
Religion plays a pivotal role in differentiating what is wrong and what is right for the followers. It prescribes what is the best way and what is worse way of doing the things. It encourages it followers to do things in the right and prescribed way and forbidden its followers from wrongdoing. It highlights the awards to the followers for doing things in right and prescribed ways ,and showed the severe punishments of wrongdoing. Like Islam which always encourages its followers to do things in the right and prescribed ways and gives the awards in the form of Junnat (Heaven) after the 'life after the death' , and discourages the followers from wrongdoing and settled the punishments for them.
2-It promotes the unity, integrity and solidarity in the society.
Religion promotes the unity, integrity and solidarity in the society. It creates the atmosphere of harmony and brotherhood. As the followers of the same religion share the same rituals and concepts which in result promotes the atmosphere of similarity and closeness. As in Islam which give the Lesson of social integrity and brotherhood. Holy Prophet Mohammad (SAW) said in his last sermon that " All Muslim are brothers ,no superiority is for Arabic on the non-Arabic ,and no superiority is for the non-Arabic over the Arabic, superiority is only for Taqwa(fear of Allah) ".
3-It promotes the Ethical and moral Values: ( same is difference between right and wrong) yes i agree here with you both heading are same i.e. "It differentiates between right and wrong" and "It promotes the Ethical and moral Values"
Almost every religion promotes and encourages the the ethical and moral values to its followers. Religion provides the standers of moral and ethics.
Followers are bound to follow these ethical and moral standers. It educates the respects of humanity. Respects of Mother, father, elders and younger etc. Moral and ethics which are themselves are very crucial for the sustain welfare and success of the society , are essential ingredients of religion. Islam is the great religion which promotes the moral and ethical values to it followers. Holy Prophet said "Paradise lies under the feet of the mother" , "He who wishes to enter Paradise through its best door must please his parents."

4-Religion promotes the welfare of the society:
Religion discourages the selfishness and materialism to its followers. It abolishes this attitude towards society. Islam and other religion like Christianity and Hinduism promotes the charity and alms-giving to the beggars ,needy, and poor. They give the message as "to serve the humanity is as to serve the God". People spends their money to feed the poor. Islam ,the great religion recommended the 'Zakat' and it is one of the five pillars of Islam. it is religious duty of every Muslim to give zakat in order to purify the wealth. When wealth or property has passed a lunar year and reaches to Nisab, Zakat becomes mandatory.

5- Religion is the source of Law : ( not all religions deal with legal issues.in Christianity, spirit and material life are separate) yes i agree with you here that not every religion is the source of law but mostly laws are emerged out from the laws.Like Islam,Christianity ,Hinduism and Judaism.
Religion is the big source of legislation. All the laws which are regulated by the world ,came from the religions. Like in Pakistan the Muslim Family Law Ordinance 1961, is based on Islamic teachings. This law has played very essential and promising role under various Secs of Marriage, divorce, maintenance, etc.1973 Constitutions are also based on the Islam. Religious Law are widely acceptable by the people because these law are based on the teachings and recommendations of the religions. Religions settled the punishments of the crimes and offenses.
6- It differentiates between legal and illegal:
Religion differentiate between what is legal and what is illegal. What is Hallal(acceptable) and What is haram(not acceptable). What is harmful and what is beneficial. It religion which set the standers of the marriage, divorce, maintenance, inheritance, etc. It is religion which prescribed that adultery ,theft, robbery, slander, and injustice have worse impact on the society.
Islam settled the huddod(limits) and punishments for the major crimes and offenses. Islam also provide the Qisas and Tazeer to punish the people.
7-Religion provides mental peace.
Man struggles for the survival of life among certain uncertainties. dangers, insecurities, injustices etc. He may get feel helplessness .It is religion which consoles and encourages the man in these all crisis.

-kinds of the religion.
Religion may be categories depending upon different factors . but here are two acceptable types of religion.
1-Revealed Religion
2-Non- Revealed Religion

-Difference between revealed and non revealed religion.
1-Revelaed Religion:
.Revealed religions are those religions in which God sent His Messengers(Prophets) to His creature to convey His messages. These messages are called Wahi "revelations". These revelations are revealed for specifics purposes.
.These are monotheistic religions. which means the followers believe in one God.
.God did not come on earth to convey His message to His creatures ,and He was not the man or female ,and he was not among the people ,Unlike the Non-revealed religions.( what do you think about christanity,: god assumed a human shape in form of jesus) (yes here i also agree with you but it is revealed religion because Bible was revealed on the Jesus. (i should write the sentence as: mostly in revealed religions God did not come on earth to convey His message to His creatures ,and He was not the man or female ,and he was not among the people ,but Christianity is only sole revealed religion in which according to the christian Jesus assumed himself as God but according to the Muslim and Quran Jesus was only the Messenger of God).
.In revealed religion God educates His followers through revelations.
.Example of revealed religions are the Islam, Christianity ,Judaism.
.Revealed religions is based on the strong faiths and revelations. In revealed religions God revealed His existence ,laws and wills. He selected the messengers to carry out His messages to the world.

2-Non-revealed Religions:
.In Non-revealed religions unlike revealed religions, God did not send His messages to His followers through the messengers, but, instead He himself educated to the followers.
.In non-revealed religion God or Gods make up all of his or her own.
.Non -revealed religion are polytheistic religions. The followers believe in many Gods and Goddess like in Hinduism in which followers believe in various male and female Gods. ( not all,Buddhism does not address issue of god, whether one or many) (yes i agree with you (in Buddhism there is not God i should have to define the non-revealed religion as:Non -revealed religion are mostly polytheistic religions but it may have no God. Either the followers may believe in many Gods and Goddess like in Hinduism in which followers believe in various male and female Gods, or they may believe in no God Like Buddhism)
.God in this case is within the creature and close to the followers. ( this is only in Hindus not in all non revealed regions)
.Example of the non-revealed religions are Hinduism and Buddhism.
.there is no concept of revelation in non-revealed religions.

-Conclusion.
Religion plays very important role in the life of its followers. Whether religion is revealed, or no-revealed has great importance for his followers. It binds its follower for the maintenance of healthy society. It provides the solidarity , unity and integrity. It promotes the welfare and betterment of the social life.
It prevent the followers from the crimes and offenses.
