Here is the catch. All this info about oneself is already in front of them in the form of soooo many forms that the candidates have been filling and submitting repeatedly since the time of initial application. So for obvious reason, there have no intrerest in knowing it again. They want to know as to why does one think he or she is best suited for the available positions. Afterall it is a job interview. The whole point of this interview obviously is not to judge you, but to see how closely one's capabilities match their requirements. So the introduction should be used to highlight those points about oneself that best fit the requirements for the choices they make.
