I don't think it's wise to go for IR while you're already starting a little late. The IR course is easy but the mere gathering of notes and course material from different sources will consume the bulk of your time. Let's see what other members suggest. For a better response state your background (seems engineering, but remove any doubts) and whether you're a good memoriser.
