Preventive officers work in the field. Their job duties are authoritative than AV officers, which is a clerical sort of work. Yesterday i had a long chat with an inspector customs, my colleague at BBIA. Even he was dying after appraising officer  . He told the only post with value is VO. PO is not in any way better than VO.
Secondly, AV officers grade have recently been updated to 16, while Preventive Officers and Custom Inspectors by nature are BS 16 jobs, with some little changes from earlier such posts
O come one man. These were upgraded few years back. These were not bs 16 by nature.
Promotion prospects are seemingly bright if not grim. I guess all the lucky ones who get selected will and should manage to become Additional Collectors one day.
Day dreaming. Are you alright???? Additional Collector????? OMG OMG.  .. Dear, though post of deputy sup has been omitted but still promotions are not that much rapid. Last grade to be attained by inspector would be 17 or 18, not more than that. It is because superintendent is 17 while ac is also ns 17. Now, bad thing is that after serving as superintendent for over 8 to 10 years one will be promoted to bs 17 as AC.. This is sheeeeeeeeeeeeer injustice. Huh.

First of all, never in my comment did i write that PO's are better than AV officers. I said PO's work in the field while the job nature of AV is clerical as can be deduced from Fpsc advertisement (and also I know the nature of the job they do). It's a desk job. Why AV post is preferred is also understandable. But it makes no difference to me as ALHAMDULILLAH I have qualified both the tests.
Secondly, the officers getting to atleast BPS 19 (Additional Collectors) is entirely my opinion and i can be wrong, but the reason why I think like that is not day dreaming or sheer optimism, but because of the fact that these inductions are through Fpsc, which involves a competitive process. Moreover, the recent inductions are result of the officers who retired in these capacities. Dear, I know and I can tell you with certainty, that those officers were not recruited through such process, they were given departmental promotions hence they retired in bps 16.. Here the inductions are directly in bps 16, which may take much time for you to promote in bps 17, but once you get there, you get promotion as other officers of similar grade for example Tehsildar becomes AC, DSP becomes ASP.. But this is my opinion, and I may be wrong.
Last, regarding my fonts, it's my style of writing. I continue to write like this irrespective of who is andha and who is not. But this comment, I'll write it in normal font.
