No grand total of marks, CGPA etc on degree or transcripts,, help needed
Dear All,
I have received my BSc degree from Sweden, which is validated by HEC equivalence certificate in Pakistan. As per rule in Sweden, subjects are graded individually on degree and there is no concept of grand total of marks, grades or CGPA etc. -:- Now, while applying for CE-2016, should it work to just send a copy of my degree with no mention of grand division/grade/CGPA?? -:- By some informal calculations, I got to know that I have about 70.00% marks, should I mention 1st division while filling online form? Please suggest, urgent help needed |

The equivalence certificate mentions your final class/division etc, so that will be enough. During filling of form, mention the equivalent percentage or type in the division/grade/class/CGPA. HEC has a site where they have mentioned equivalencies in GPA of various foreign degrees I think.

Thanks for reply.
The final grades/division etc not mentioned on HEC equivalence certificate either. In fact the subjects there-self are further divided into parts where an assignment or lab is graded either passed or failed e.g no percentage for that. So, it has quite messed up the things. ..If I just send copy of my degree, will the fpsc accept it provisionally to let me sit in exam? |

Well, Thanks a lot dear . On equivalence certificate it is mentioned that I have corresponding 15 years education in Pakistan. So,based on calculations, I will tick the 1st division on online form, right?

It's alright my friend. Just send your equivalence and degree copies to FPSC. I got a Bachelors from UK and final class was mentioned in HEC equivalence as well. It's not your fault really.
By the way, did you do A-Levels before you got your Swedish degree? If yes, then it should be 16 years equivalence, 15 is in the case when you do F.Sc. Just out of curiosity, why did you come back to Pakistan after studying in Sweden? No jobs there or you wanted to do CSS? Are you missing Sweden? |

I did F.Sc. and HEC said you can get a 16 year equivalence after PEC reg. which is in progress yet.
Returning back was solely due to some domestic reasons. One can easily get job after learning Svenska, and I was a good speaker of Svenska but unfortunately I had to get back home in urgency. Sweden is a very calm place to live in . Quote:

Kind of same here but struggling quite a lot in adjusting here. Sweden is a great place but for some reason I like Norway even more. Can you give some useful and effective websites for finding entry level engineering jobs in Sweden/Norway? It would be very kind of you. Also, what do you think about getting into M.Sc via scholarships and then securing jobs there? |

As I mentioned earlier, getting job in Nordic countries depends much on local language skills. Once you are able to speak their local language, chances of you getting hired increase by 80%. I agree that Norway is little better than Sweden because of their petro-economy. Getting job in Norway also require a good networking, as there are at least 35% jobs vacancies not published anywhere.
Norway, Finland still offer free education so less scholarships offered at graduate level. Germany is choice well worth to get scholarship at Masters level in addition to mostly free education. My suggestion would be to get admission there is any of above mentioned, get familiar with with local language and I am certain that within year you will get job. Quote:
