I think there will be a choice to opt easay/composition and all other papers in Urdu or English. The 2nd possibility is that Urdu will be added as a compulsory paper. 2017 is my last attempt but for those who are weak in Urdu (like me) it is a new challenge. I think most aspirants will benefit from it and it's a good constitutional decision.

AoA,
Well, I am very disappointed by dint of such foolish order. Certainly, CSS recruits the cream of the nation which ultimately represents Pakistan both national and international forums. It allows every citizen to take part in this competitive exam. But, by limiting the medium of expression to Urdu would certainly be a sheer injustice to those candidates who do not hold good aptitude in expressing their views in this language. It is due to the fact that many aspirants come from a variety of educational backgrounds and speak different native languages. Many of them do not fully understand Urdu. Moreover, there are many Pakistanis living abroad who are very intelligent and aspire to serve Pakistan. Many of them lack proficiency in Urdu. So, how could they equally compete with the others? Quote:
Undoubtedly, English is an international language and holds much importance, especially in bureaucracy. The world is very competitive. We need to mould ourselves to survive in it. Let the medium of examination optional for CSS aspirants and leave for them to attempt the CSS papers in Urdu or English at the choice of their own. Do not cage them in a single medium because no language is the tool to measure one's intelligence but a source to express opinion. The Planning Commission should look into the matter on a serious note. May ALLAH bless us with success. Ameen sumameen. Best of luck. Stay blessed. Regards.

On a serious note, I do not think this would be enforceable by 2018. The necessary literary paraphernalia does not exist to support such a decision. Even if such a decision is upheld by the SC, I think they will give a transition period which should be at least 3-5 years and even after a choice should exist. Candidates should have a choice if they want to attempt the paper in English or in Urdu.
Hence I reiterate that this would not be the case in 2018 so everybody relax |

It is impossible for CSS exams like competitive examinations to be conducted in urdu where english language is the fabric and backbone of the whole process starting from theory upto the viva voce. Taking the exams in Urdu will be confusing because alot of subjects are taught in english which is the main medium of education in most parts of the country.
