how to b successful in css.

I'm preparing for CSS-2012 but i'm really in thick soup esp because of current affairs and English. I don't know how to develop analytical abilities in me. Plz guide me in this context.

As far as my subjects are concerned, i've opted for psychology,sociology, journalism and indo-pak history. what makes me worry is journalism. someone told me to score gud in journalism i must watch tv but i don't get that much spare time to watch tv. should i drop journalism and opt anyother subject in place of it?

Eager to get suggestions.

For analytical approach, you have to read different books & articles and to take participation in discussions.
Journalism is a scoring and easy subject but it does not require watching the TV regularly. You must go for it, see past papers and analyse yourself whether you can answer these or not.
But Indo Pak History is not a scoring subject and has a very lengthy syllabus, choose other subject instead of Indo Pak History.

Dear instead of indo-pak history you can take economics as optional it is scoring and much easy then indo-pak history.
in interview the penal will ask the questions from economics whether u have taken or not.
so it will also help in interview.
So according to my research economics is better than indo-pak history.

its nt a hard nut to crack...

i m sharing u my experience in CSS-2011....

your first prioirity should ba DAILY DAWn...
Try to improve ur English as much as u cannn
go for news head once in a day esp. 9.00 PM...
in order to develop Analytical Approach gor for economist and new york times...


as far as paper of journalism is concern....its unpridictable in 2011 css... n before that it was just a piece of cake...
pattern was totaly changed in 2011 in all subjects....
therefore....just work hard...n try to have those thought , which give u courage instead of those, which demote u..

i have indo pak in 2011 css...
what i suggest u not to change it....

Honorable bro, is very right in saying that economics being opting gives you bid advantage for interview. If you have mastered the area of Public Policy and Macroeconomic Management, then you can tackle any question in interview also. So a good inclination to economics proves very helpful.

But, however, it depends upon educational background of the opting person

I've done my graduation in zoology,chemistry and psychology and then i got my masters degree in psychology.

What do u think about US History and any regional language instead of Indo-Pak History?

Thanks for such a comprehensive advice. I've another query, so you might help me out in this case as well.

As a matter of fact, all girls are really very weak in current affairs. I don't even have a basis of current affairs.I read THE NEWS. But honestly speaking, i can't read page 1 because i don't have a disposition for political matter I just can't stuff all that political things in my mind. Any suggestions?

dont worry about Current Affairs, if you consider it difficult you wont be able to overcome this fear, as me too didnt take lot of interest in Politics and all, but once i decided to appear for CSS, i have to take interest in it and for now I am bit successful in this too, I have started with the columns of people in Urdu.. but i didnt make my thinking let go with the thinking of writer but i analyse that how one see things and this will ultimately build your analytical thinking...

Regarding subjects, I must say keep Journalism as your optionals but you can drop Indo Pak history, when i selected the subject i too chose Indo Pak, but when i went through the past papers and books, it seems that it wont be easy to tackle therefore I have decided to drop it, on for Indo Pak you can go for any of the subject related to your education background like zoology...

Anyway final decision lies with you definitely, do see all the past papers before deciding any optionals.

But a CSP told me not to opt zoology. I've seen past zoology papers and i found them easy as cmpared to journalism.

I'm quite determined to choose psychology,sociology and journalism. Would it be fine if i opt for us history and Pushtu. I've just gone through a pushto paper, though i've had bit difficulty in reading it but i think with passage of time i'll make up this deficiency. What do u say? Is my decision correct?
