well just for simplification, normally if you are within top 20-30 you will get the group of your own choice. This is not a set rule, but that is usually what happens. Each group has its own merit seats, and then every year the number of seats vary, so every year the exact number of candidates who get allocated to the group pf their choice varies as well.

Just try to be in the top 30, especially if you are punjab domiciled, and you will most likely get into your group.

You have two chances of choosing your group preferences. First when you fill the application before the written exam. When one clears the written exam, before the interview another chance is given to revise the group preferences if one likes.

Well marks for the toppers will vary every year but generally speaking people with combined score of 910-915 (written + interview) can expect to be in top 35-30. This is my observation based on the last 2 years scores and merits. For 2007 and 2008 people with scores of 870-880 they were in top 35 range.

well the height and chest questions should be asked later. If you are from punjab the competition for getting in PSP is very tough. My advice is that you focus on preparing for the exam. Forget about the height and weight thing. Just make PSP as an aim in your mind, and fight for it. Put it as your first choice, if you get that high on merit and you go on to fulfill the physical requirements it would be great. Lets suppose you are high enough on the merit to qualify for PSP but only due to physical requirement you are declined a place in it, still you will be allocated to some of the top group such as DMG/FSP and take my word that is in now way less to PSP. So you will hav nothing to loose. The moral of the story is that forget about physical requirements and focus on the metal/intellectual requirements at this moment.
