I want to know what is the maximum age for being considered for promotion in each grade for a federal government employee. I want to know the age requirements for promotion for both CSPs, as well as regular Federal Government employees.
I have been searching, and found a document of ANF. Although these are for inter-departmental transfers, I wonder if the age limits are the same for being promoted within one’s own department? Here are age limits for promotions vs grade.
Now, let’s consider an example of promotions based on the above chart.
If someone began their service as regular grade 17 officer (non CSP) at the age of 29, here is how his promotions will be expected to go:
After 5 years experience: Promoted to grade 18 (at age 34, Maximum age for being considered for grade 18 is 35 years)
After 12 years experience: Unable to be promoted to grade 19, because maximum age for consideration (40) has been crossed…. what will happen to the career of the officer at this point?
Is the above chart applicable to all Federal Government departments? I know speed of promotions are dependent on department, as well as performance, but still, one should be aware of maximum age limits for promotion in order to be able to calculate the best case scenario of their career if they get selected for government service.
Where can I see the maximum age for promotions? If an officer is not promoted to a higher grade, they must retire at an age lower than 60, depending on their grade. Where can I see these rules? Also, what are the age requirements for CSPs?
