which author to follow for exams....

The one that is easy for you to comprehend and possess quality material. You can search relative sections of compulsory subject on this forum and find out the books suggested by different worthy members of this forum based on their experience and study. However you can also post a query regarding recommended books for the particular compulsory subject in the relevant section of this forum and you will be replied accordingly.
