Dear Kashmala its really easy to improve your vocablury..firstly just read any topic of dawn newspaper for 2 to 3 times then you will be able to get familiar with what you are reading..then highlight the difficult words find out the meanings from dictionary write them on newspaper above respective word then again read the passage. After doing so try to make your own sentences i am sure you will never forget the words with meanings!!best of luck

Rule of Maths applies here. Actually, The newspaper everyday repeats few words, that repetition of the words makes you remember very difficult ones which in ordinary course is almost impossible to cram. When you start this practice, initially difficult terms appears almost impossible to be kept in mind, but after a few days you will start cracking the nut and way shall start getting leveled for you.

To improve vocab you need concentrating on topics instead of words and avoid jumping frequently from one topic to another (i.e. jumping to news while reading business ). Make a categorized list of difficult words that you encounter during reading a topic; for example when reading business and economy make a list of difficult words relating to business and economy, and when reading science make a list of difficult words that you encounter while reading science topic (etc). After your categorized list gets bloated, try making pairs of synonymous words from different topics

Let me give you an example. There is a word 'perennial', which would mean 'mustaqil' or 'lambe arsey tak rehne waala' in urdu. The words synonymous to perennial would be everlasting, permanent, forever etc. But the key is word 'perennial' is used in agricultural context (sada bahar fasal ), while everlasting is used in a religious context, permanent in a more official and formal context while forever in a more informal everyday context. You will only be able to notice the difference when reading topic wise .

The key to improve learning of any language is to keep the fact in mind that as there are many professional communities among human (peasants, traders, scientists, literary people, politicians, ordinary people etc), therefore no language has ever evolved as a single entity. If you ever ponder upon our own language you will be able to note that people who work in offices speak a different jargon of same language than people living in villages and people in the streets and hotels etc ; same is the case with English with the difference only being that English is much vaster than our languages and much work has been done in English than in our languages. So if you want to improve your writing abilities you should be focusing on literature, to improve your critical thinking you should focus on philosophy, to improve your logic you should focus upon maths and algebra, to improve your abilities you should focus on a technical field of your interest (science, arts, politics, computer whatever ). Your vocab will automatically improve once your focus is on the right path, but if you just keep pondering that somehow you gotta cram a long list of words to enhance vocabulary than I can bet you if you cram 100 new words everyday, at the end of the week you will only remember 100 words (not 700 ) and you won't even be able to use those crammed words effectively in your writings and speeches and produce amateur pieces of writing which would definitely hurt your score in the exam .

khashmala take any english newspaper not necessarily Dawn like frontier post, the news nation.
select any topic randomly.start reading it you will face difficult words to understand, write these words in a register and find there meaning from any dictionary.keep a dictionary of eng to eng and eng to urdu.read only 10 20 lines daily or as much as you can.
if you face problem of pronunciation see the dictionary they twell you how to pronounce the word. dont learn the words taken out by heart just write it down with meaning.
here what happened you learnt the spelling and with repeated coming of same words you will be able to understand the meaning of the word.if you write 20 words each day you will an inventory of 7300 words in one year.
