Default Equivalence of O/A Levels & Attestation of Foreign Degree

Dear All,

I intend to take CSS 2014 exams. As I understand the deadline for registration is October 31, 2013. The documents required with the application are domicile, degree, and educational certificates. I have done O levels & A levels and did my graduation (BA Hons in Anthropology & Law) from UK. I will be done with my LLM (Masters at Law) degree in Jan 2014.

Can any senior or someone aware with the process please guide me with regards to the following?

1. Do I need to get equivalence certificate for my O and A Level qualifications?

2. Also do I need to get equivalence certificate for my BA (Hons) degree in Anthropology & Law, for purposes of applying for the registration of CSS 2014 exams?

I would be grateful for your help.

Regards,

Musab.

@Topper

Thank You for your reply.

Can you just give me a rough idea whatsoever with regards to equivalence procedure for Bachelors degree? How long would it take to get an equivalence certificate?

Default Equivalence for a foreign degree

Is equivalence essential for A-level students and foreign degree holders. It seems that some people on the forum suggest that it may not be. Getting equivalence from the HEC takes a bit of time as well and there is a constraint.
Can anyone please help in this regard?

AoA

Yes, Equivalence is essential for foreign degree holders.

You still have time to apply for HEC to get equivalence. However, if you follow the procedure, the process does not take much time.

regards

Thanks Mr. Awan.

Is there a list of documents that are required? Please share if you know of one. Also, sir the HEC requires 15-20 days from Karachi. What do you suggest in this case?

I had applied for HEC equivalence about 2 weeks ago but they are saying that it can take anywhere from 30-50 days for me to get an equivalence certificate because they have to send the degree to my foreign university for confirmation and they can do nothing to expedite the process. I'm afraid it might keep me from my CSS registration whose deadline is looming close. What to do?

You need to get your O levels and A levels equivalence from IBCC and your BA Hon equivalence from HEC....
IBCC Lahore Office Ph. # 042-99203893
And this is the guy you need to contact at HEC Islamabad:
Syed Asim Hussain
Assistant Director (A & A)
Higher Education Commission (HEC), Sector H-9
Islamabad
Phone.+9251-90400912
Fax. +9251-90400902

Hope that helps!

Please have a look at HEC website for the required documents. As far as lomg time is concerned, its mainly the travelling time of postage. You may also send an email to the relevant officer at sasim@hec.gov.pk requesting him to expedite your case on the context of css application.

They need a confirmation of degree from your parent university, for decreasing the time you can request your university at your own to expedite it. Further, you can request the relevant officer for issuance of a provisional letter to the effect that you hold a degree from a recognized university and your equivalence letter will be issued on confirmation from your university. You can tell the officer that you require it for the the css application and deadline is approaching. I hope he will accommodate you. They are good people and accommdates students.
