Brother in order to pass the exams and be considered for an interview chance, You need to:

1- Score atleast 40% marks in the compulsory subjects.
2- Score atleast 33% marks in the optional subjects.
3- Get an aggregate score of 50% in 1200 marks (12 papers).

As far as you second part of the question is concerned: CSS is a quota based system. You must be falling in the Sindh Urban Category. So you two chances. Come on merit (usually around 10% of the total seats are filled by merit) or atleast do well in Sindh Urban.
one question i want to ask is what are the passing marks in css ? what is the least overall percentage one has to achieve to get the job done ? Does it vary from district to district ? i am from hyderabad distrct .
Passing marks for a compulsory subject are 40 and for an optional subject 33. However to qualify for interview your aggregate/overall score should be atleast 50% i.e. 600. Passing marks and aggregate score does not vary province-wise or district-wise. But after interview, the interview marks are added to written marks to get final score. On the basis of this final score, merit is determined and then allocations are done according to the quota reserved for provinces.

I have a question regarding the total number of chances. Its stated that we have total three attempts to try our luck, I want to know how these attempts are monitered. I mean if I submit the forms but don't sit the exams, did i exhaust my first attempt? Or do I have to sit the exam for at least one paper to strike off the attempt number one?

^^

Thanks for the answer by the way I've another question, I asked it in another thread but I guess its a dead thread so I'm going to ask here instead.

What if i just write only one group as my preference, would you advise against it, would it affect my allocation chances when I succeed to make it to the end? My only choice would be FSP and I'm from Balochistan and female. Or do you think its a risky way to show my preference?

You should mention all the groups according to your preferences to be on the safe side.
Only writing one group as your preference will give a negative impression as if you don't want and won't serve in any other group if you somehow cannot get your first choice.
Passing this exam and getting allocation in any group is in itself an achievement.Be ready to serve in any group.:)Later the choice will be yours but mention all the groups.

I have a few beginner questions:

1. Will all compulsory subjects have to be attempted in English?

2. Do subjects like Islamic history etc also have to be attempted in English?

3. Basically, are all subjects supposed to be attempted in English or can we also use Urdu in papers.

Thanks

you have to atempt all subject in english either they are copulsory or optional.except islamiat compulsory,in which an option is avialable for laungage(you have to answere in urdu or english depend on your will).while in optional section laungages are to be deal in their own field(you can not solve urdu laungage paper into english laungage, persion in urdu, arbic into english).
slam,
does anyone knows as if a guztd officer in defence forces apply for CSS without approval and NOC and without showing him as officer in govt dpt, wthr FPSC will be able to trace him tht he is already doing servic or not?
yes, of course
before your final appointment,Govt will trace all data of you(it's a single NIC,which can show them, everything they need to know about you)
you can not cheat them:nono
suppose you got succes in it,they couid not catch it during your written test, interview but what will you do when they will appoint you on a post?(before final appointment of candiddte they conduct real investigation).
it may disqualfy you with a penalty, may possible for future exams also.
they have clearly mentioned,"a candidate will be disqualfy at any stage, even after his appoinment if commision found any information false or untrue"
