International Relations as an optional subject?
Dear members,
For a person with no background in the subject(Engineer), how much time does it take to prepare this subject ? Also which other subject(s) does it overlap with? How much time is needed for its preparation? Also, historically it is a low scoring subject but on the flip side, does it have any benefits? |

Brother,No one can give you a fixed time-period for covering this subject. But,the silver lining is that everyone with a few exceptions have to go for either I.R or political science as a 200 subject regardless of his/her background. So you should be unconcerned by it and start it with complete devotion. However,I can just make a rough guess the preparation of ir can be completed within 7 to 8 months,if one starts from zero. But believe me the ir syllabus is not as long and tough as it is speculated and portrayed.

Physics is indeed a high scoring subject. Not only Physics but other science subjects as well. But if you are opting for highly competitive Foreign service then IR or Political Science should be your choice along with Physics. The reason being that every group has some subjects related to it, for example Public Administration is more into Police Department. Wise choice of Subject let the Interview Panel and the Psychologist Panel Know that you are not into marks but you want to be perfect for the group you selected. Automatically according to Human Behavior their attitude will favor you.
