British History and Indo-Pak History; which of them is to be preferred?
AOA to all,
I m an aspirant of Css-2009. I have a confusion, should i opt British History or Indo-Pak History. The merit of British Histry being its systematical infrastructure. on the other hand the merit of Indo-Pak History is the privity with some compulsory subjects. so plz guide me seniors! |

AOA
Bro British History may be somthing new but would be helpful with the Europena or IR (u cant opt Europ.his+Britis.His) and as far as Indo.Pak z concerned, you are studying it from your 6th grade (if you are native of Pakistan), somtimes as SOCIAL SCIENCES and as PAKITAN STUDIES and History (if you studied Ox-cambr syllabus) and you can seek help in the computsory subject of Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs. So it would be easier to study the INDO.PAK rather than European. However its upto your choice in which you are interested. Good luck Surmount

Well............i agree with surmount that we have been studying this subject from our 6th grade. Moreover, it will also help us in Pak affairs, specially paper II of indo pak covers almost 60-70% of Pak affairs.
British history would be naive to u if u havn't studied it,though it is more systematic. The main point to focus is the scoring in s subject. It has been observed that the candidates have scored 140-150 in indo pak as well.So its not a low scoring subject as perceived by many aspirants. Looking at the above points, i think indo pak is much better choice than british history. Bt the final decision is yours and you may have valid reasons for your choice!! Kind Regards

Well bros. i shall be appearing, Allah Willing, in CSS 2009. as a CSp officer am anbitious to join FSP or DMG. my optionals are Law, Jounalism and Sociology for sure. now there is a competition between British Hist. and Ind-pk Hist. the rationale given for Brit.H by some corners is it is systematic altough still i m not able to comprehend what does it mean perhaps because till yet i have not studied it well. moreover one thing just popped up to my mind and that is logically speaking we should first be aware of or own history than to be aware of the history of the british. inanycase i'l have to decide it as early as possible. i can see my tendency towards ind.-pk hist. anyways i hope with the help and support of Almighty and u people i'll be able to decide soon.
Regards,

@Mohsin Mumtaz...
i agree with surmount and Mr.Omer. Having done M.A(History) myself i can safely suggest you to opt for History of India and Pakistan.According to me following are the reasons why indo-pak should be preferrred over British History 1.Indo-Pak covers almost 80% of Pakistan Affairs. 2.More books are available. 3.There are many teachers and aspirants who can guide you but for British History its very difficult to find a good teacher and as a result one can't comprehend its under-currents. 4.For the last three years Indo-Pak History has been highly scoring but the score of British History has been on the low side. 5.As the date sheet is so hectic you will have back to back papers.History's paper is immediately after Pakistan Affairs and Islamiyat.Therefore it would be easier for you to revise your history paper beacuse you would have studied it just a day before. 6.All of us have been studying Indo-Pak since class 1 or 2 we have the ideas just have to develop arguments and have to add more facts and figures.its easy....... And secondly if you have not studied History at Bachelors level i won;t recommend you to go for European or British History...
