Dear ahmadd

AoA and Welcome to the CSS Forum

You need not be confused my friend, the thing is that there are many technical subjects in the CSS syllabus which an engineer might feel are good for him e.g. in your case being an electronics engineer you may feel that Physics, Mathematics are good subjects for you but over the years it has been the practice of all the candidates regardless of their educational backgrounds not to opt these technical subjects, reason is that they are considered risky and are only recommended if you have an exceptionally good command over them.

I'd suggest you to go for generally opted subjects like the ones in groups B,E and F. You will be able to easily get guidance and preparation material for these subjects and they are generally scoring as well.

Having said this, everything remains at your own sweet will and interest. If you feel like going for the technical subjects or any other subject for that matter, do review the past papers for the subjects you want to opt and decide accordingly.

I hope this was of some help, do post if there are any further questions

You can have a look at the syllabus here and some tips on subject selection at the following link

As rightly pointed above, though there is a wide choice for you to select subjects like Applied/Pure Maths and/or Physics, and some people have done exceptionally well even by opting these subjects, the fact remains that you might not be able to get a justified amount of preparation material and guidance as would be available for the hard core traditional CSS subjects.
I am myself an Engineer, but I have resisted from such temptations and have restricted myself to go with the flow. A few months down the lane, I feel that it was wise of me to do so.
But as they say, go for a subject, in which you really feel at home. None, other than your own self, can justify the subject selection.
