Default Intertional Relation or Political Science? Without background.

This is a question for mainly the seniors, qualifiers and those who have studied either of the two subjects. Which subject should be opted? International Law is about general study of the worldly affairs with a few theories along with it. I have also heard it is less scoring.

Political Science is more or less political theories and constitutions but I have heard it is more productive and earns better score but its syllabus is lengthier.
What I need to know is, if the syllabus really that lengthier or there are a few repeated questions from past papers that must be prepared to get good score from the subject?

Brother Having both subjects as my optionals in CE14 I will try my best to apprise you about the pros and cons of both these subjects so that It will be easier for you to decide.

IR:
when it was a 1oo marks subject, people were terrified from it because of its very low scoring trend and vast course.
but now there has been further addition to it and has been made a 200 marks course. To cover its course you have to go to great depths because now there is nothing that can not come in its domain. FPs, Theories, histories you have to be well versed in them. Also it will be tested for the Ist time in 200 marks domain and will be an experiment, will either take you up or down.

but, nevertheless it has some positive aspects as well. With that you can now take International Law subject which is scoring as well as easy and overlapping with IR. IR can also cover your Current Affairs portion to a good extent. And it will be interesting as compared to the dry subject like Political Science.

Political Science:

It has never been a high scoring subject like Geography or Psychology etc rather it is a safe subject. The reason is that though one can not score in 150s or 160s but can have a safe score in 120s 130s with proper study and preparation.
Political Science paper 2 and constitutional law course completely overlap. Prepare one subject the other will be automatically prepared. But again there is an issue which is that constitutional law is not very scoring and needs a lawyers approach.

But the problem with it is that it is very dry subject. Interest in this subject is very important with out which you will not be able to go through it. Studying IR for the Ist time should not be an issue but studying Political Science for the first time is altogether a different game. Therefore In Depth analysis of the course content is a must before taking this journey.

Though The course has been increased but covering it will not be an issue through smart work. same concepts of law and politics will get repeated again and again. All the theories and concepts have allot in common and they overlap at one point or the other.
A simple example, If you study "American system of government" than you would not need to go through the "presidential form of government" again; which are both separately mentioned in the syllabus.

Keep in view all these points you have to make your decision.

Considering all the aspects of new syllabus outline, which books+magazines+journals+newspapers would you suggest to fetch good marks in IR? And how much can IR help someone in essay paper and interview?
