Default Query regarding making notes, need guidance

Respected seniors and aspirants, my query is regarding making notes of compulsory and optional subjects. Many successful seniors ascribe their success to making good notes. But I am so confused as to how much detailed my notes should be. Some say they should have adequate details so that you can solely rely on your notes without having the need to read books during exams for revision. I personally think making notes that are detailed to such extent will be a very time consuming endeavor. Or will it not be? Or will it take a lot of time but will pay off in the end during exam days, so it is totally worth it? Or is there no need of making such detailed notes in the first place and we should rather write only important headings/outlines?
I request seniors to kindly address my query as i have been asking the same for quite some time at various places in this forum and at various other platforms as well. I will be indebted for your help.

Kind regards

Though strategy of making notes varies from person to person and depends upon subject too. One should choose which suits him the best. I would like to share with you the method I personally adopt for making my notes. It help me a lot when it comes to preparing and revision for exams.

1.Put the topic or title at the top + source of material/information ( if required I can read it again)

2.Put down most important points, figures, dates etc. in bullets form right below the topic (keep jotting down new updates times to time).

2.Put down a very brief description about the topic in own words.

3. Make tables, diagram or graph of factual information given in the description of topic.( Again very very useful to revise the key points during the exams )

4. Precise analysis or Conclusion

That's it.

This method is very useful in either way; provide key points along with enough details and easier to skim.

Best of Luck .
