Default How to prepare notes

i think first of all one thing should be understood that we should read a good book of the subject.. for example for Pakistan Affairs read ''trek to Pakistan", it is excellent book and many csp's have recommended only this book for Pakistan Affairs(PA) even for indopak history, now this is written by a good writer ahmed saeed, he is a professional writer and have wrote many books, tel me one thing ? can you write book or make notes good than him? it is not possible right now as you are not good as he is, i strongly oppose this notes culture, there is a misconception about notes, notes is not writing all the topics, no , notes is that first you go through book, read the book once, then note some important point with the help of high lighter or write down main points on any copy
example: kashif ali tipu is a csp, and he made notes of International Law and sociology, have you seen any explanation of the topic in his notes ? no . actually he only noted down the main points of the topic on which he will write but he followed a good book for preparation and just noted down the points at one place, this is called notes... you cant write a book like ahmed saeed or kaeley or mojamdar.. but you can note down the important points on which you will write if the question comes.
second things is that when you follow more than one book then you should note down points of both books .. for example
read role of Aligarh from book one... and then read the same topic from book two..
now combine the main points of the topic at one place... and i think it will only cover half a page or maximum one page.. don't write the topic from A to Z as it is waste of time and cant be equal to the books in quality.
it is my experience and i wanted to share with you, may Allah bless you all with success and a meaningful life.. Ameen
Regards

Bro, Your points are also up-to mark but the process of preparing notes is to revise subject easily. It is one of the prolong process to prepare notes as same as written in Book. Notes are made to write in your own words to show that what you have understood. I believe in reading books rather than preparing notes. If anybody reads books he can get many points from books. Those transcript points must be jot down. Revising books and to read again and again is the best practice to pick up those points in mind.
For example: one Aspirant has read three books in Islamiat so it is not the good policy to prepare notes of these three books. It is the best to write those points from these books which were interesting and related to material. so all the points must be write which are precious. Points are written down to take credit in exam as assessor can give excellent marks in the individual subject.

brother we should not revise from notes, because if we will revise from 10 percent material then only half we will remember but if we will revise from 100 per cent , from book then at least main points will be remembered. notes should be the points or headings or the hints by which we can remind the topic as we cant copy and paste notes in paper as in paper we have to arrange the points according to the question and then we have to write on these points.
yeah you are right revising book is the best way and points from different books should be noted down as i had said that already in my sharing..

You are right Hassan Razzaq. To me I think points / synopsis / outlines / bullets are the best way to preparation for CSS exam. As far as i prepare a topic from several books during that time whenever i get a golden point i write down in my rough note book. After completing this process, i sort out these outlines in an order way in my subject note book. After completing my optional/compulsory subject i read only outline per weak in order to get them remember with the time till examination. Really, it does work exclusively. Furthermore, if you get difficulty in any point that is written down by you for a specific topic, means if you bother then that would be necessary to repeat it from your text book from where you had prepared it. However, i don't agree with notes making it is a very lengthy process. I don't mean to say it is wrong. But, I think it is the best way for those who are beginner don't know that how to write a topic or anything else. Off course, if you write anything in your own ideas it is the best way to remember things, especially facts and figures. Though every person has its own strategy of preparing i would like to say that first you observe your skills and way of preparation for anything that which is better for you than you decide yourself that it is the best option for you to prepare it in your own style. In last i would say that both ways are good, but it depends on your own way that which one is the best for you....I wish you best of luck..

yeah i also had the same strategy brother, in my books their were my hand written points in very short form on a chit and i pasted a small chit after every topic.
writing practice is always good, we should try to solve and write the answers but writing for notes is useless what i think and yeah everyone has different style and they should opt in which they are good

First read concerned material twice or thrice till u grasp the content. then make notes of imp. topics. Past papers of last 3 years will help u in this regard.

read n revise notes till u get confidence to attempt that Q in paper.

b4 papers make more concise bullets of headings n factual material out of ur notes. it wl help u revise the material just b4 n during papers.

CSS s smart n quick study. its not like Ph. D.

Many novice speakers write down their speeches and read them out loud, which audiences find dull. Others memorize their speeches and work without notes; but if they forget something, they often become completely lost and are unable to continue. The key to preparing notes for public speaking lies between these two extremes: notes remind the speaker about what to say, but don't tell the speaker how to say i
