Smile How to Become a Good Student

Motivation Is the Basic Step
It has been said that to get the required performance out of an individual, you must first discover what motivates them... Motivation drives individuals to act. Why do you watch television instead of reading a book?..... Why drive one block when you can walk?..... The answers to these questions vary from individual to individual and all are correct. They reveal each person's motivation for handling the specific situations mentioned.

How does this relate to being a good student?......... You must look within yourself to discover a reason for becoming a better student. Nobody will provide you the answer. It is an individual decision that must be made. Once you discover your motivation, you will have taken the first step.

Ways To Obtain Motivation
The ways I know to obtain motivation are:
Hope to obtain motivation
Motivating yourself to be motivated will motivate you. That seems a little redundant,....... but you must start somewhere....... A belief that you have what it takes will pep you up and propel you..... From the first step to the next and so on, always taking a pride in the few steps climbed will motivate and lead you further and further.

Force yourself to concentrate
Concentration plays a big role in motivation......

Make good deeds a part of your routine
It can be like quitting smoking, or volunteering at a Edhi Welfare home. Doing something good for yourself or others will help you be motivated. The most important part of motivation is "FOCUS"...... You have to stay focused. Understand why you are at that college, and not on the beach relaxing, surfing or skiing. You want to be that "Doctor", "Engineer" or whatever. The point here is to get that piece of paper that says "You're what you really want to be".

Relaxation
Relaxation seems like the opposite of what you need to do to be motivated, but this is not true.......... Being relaxed makes it easy to become motivated without being stressed out..... Think of your relaxation in terms of a health bar in a video game: if it gets too low, you are in danger of dying (meaning being too stressed out, causing you to lose motivation).

Curiosity
Some people naturally have a thirst for knowledge...... They may enjoy reading random articles in their spare time, or reading books, or doing projects........ Try to take these practices and apply them to your studies.

Do what you like
You don't need to motivate yourself to do something you really like................ You don't have to motivate yourself to eat that chocolate bar when you are on a diet.... Therefore, try to study things you like as much as possible, or at least try to make it interesting for yourself. You may also try to read some self-help books; these are encouraging tools to motivate yourself.

U have mentioned good points . I would like to add some more. As we know that everyone seems to b mean or selfish around this world. A person hardly work for social reforms rather than his own benefit. It shows that all sound minded ppl has some objective and they work to meet their objective.

This is how, If an student find his objective while study .He automatically turn over to be a good student by and by. Mostly in our region, Students cant grasp that what is their future after study. So as to , Student should b enlightened for their objective at first. After than he will b motivated to work on diligently.

Thumbs up

@ Rehman Pal

You have rightly said about motivation I would like to add one thing about motivation,

Motivation is of two kinds
****Internal Motivation
****External Motivation

Best thing is you are internally motivated but if someone is not internally motivated then there should be external motivation by realizing the person real importance and charm of achieving that particular goal. For example in childhood parents give external motivation by saying I will buy a bicycle for you after 1st div in Matric exam. So we can apply it at advanced level as well especially for preperation of Competitive exam.

@ Z. naqvi

sis u r absolutely right about the notion of internal and external motivation... but i think that it can only be affective at small/primary level when children are not aware of right and wrong... personally i think that at higher levels it is the student him/herself who can both internally and externally motivate him/herself....coz at this stage people are mature enough...and are capable enough to take decision ... but again encouragement and appreciations can bring a change....
and one thing more can u plz elaborate the relationship between motivetion and interest... are they interlinked? do they hav some sort of relation to each other....
take care
regards

@ rehman
brother u hav added nice points about motivation...keep it up
regards

Students do not learn much just sitting in classes listening to teachers, memorizing prepackaged assignments, and spitting out answers. They must talk about what they are learning, write reflectively about it, relate it to past experiences, and apply it to their daily lives. They must make what they learn part of themselves. - Arthur W. Chickering and Stephen C. Ehrmann

how to become a good student?

some major ponits...

1- STUDY HABBITS

To become a good student, one must develop good study habits. Good grades and success in education are highly dependent on you and your study habits. Your success in life is also dependent on how you cope within the classroom and are able to maximize your potentials...

2- DO ADVANCE READINGS!

If you're currently on Chapter 4 of your biology book, why not read on a few extra chapters? It doesn't hurt to be several pages ahead in class. In fact, doing advance readings will actually help you prepare yourself for the next lesson.

3- BANISH CRAMMING!

"Cram" is high up there on the list of things that mostly characterize high school and college students, especially during exam week. Cramming usually results to lower grades. Two or three weeks before an exam, go over your notes already. This way, you aren't really pressured to study and you have ample time to pace yourself.

4- PREPARE YOURSELF FOR TOMORROW

When you get home, study the notes and lessons for that day as if you'll be having a quiz the next day, even there really isn't going to be one. Making a habit of reviewing the day's lessons will help to condition your mind and increase your memory retention.

5- WRITE NOTES!

Don't get lazy on writing on your notebook. Learn to jot down keywords and important phrases and ideas your teacher tells your class.

6- DEVOTE A TIME!

Study and work within a specific length of time everyday. You may want to try devoting an hour and half after school/college/uni to studying your lessons. Or you can schedule your study time at certain times during the night or weekend. The important thing is you stick to your plan.

apart from the above mentioned points there are some general points which may play an imp. role...

i) eat right and sleep well and exercise
ii) get good light and a quiet zone for studying
iii) get organized and get tutors if you need to
iv) Get a schedule going where you have enough fun time and study time.
v) Taking your work seriously--regularly attending class and participating,
vi) Ability to meet deadlines--getting assignments done on-time,
vii) Not being afraid to ask questions to teachers or ask for help.

and last but not the least... after putting up all ur energies hardwork just leave the rest on allah almighty...and dont forget to pray for urself and ur success...
