Dear Arif . How do you think Islamic History paper needs to be attempted? Do i have to give headings or quotations?
Headings are essential part of every question. One should have a proper outline for every question (in mind) before attempting it. Said that, you should give headings according to the requirement of the questions. As far as Quotations are concerned, they add to the beauty of a question. If one can manage quotes for general topics (social/political), definition for science topics and a Ahadith for Islamic topics, then there is nothing that can prevent one from scoring the highest marks.

@ Arif Awan
First of all accept my heartiest congratulations for tremendous performance in the first attempt .

5. Pakistan Affairs

Pakistan Affairs subject has some overlapping areas with Current Affairs so those over lapping areas such as the Socioeconomic, demographics, indigenous politics etc. should be studied from various sources like sociology books, Ikram Rabbani's book and some features of newspapers. whereas, for the per-partition topics, "Struggle for Pakistan" by IH Qureshi or "trek to Pakistan" or "Making of Pakistan" are suitable books.
Your marks in pak affairs are good enough. Which book did u study from above for pre partition ..And what was strategy while attempting questions ... i mean you focused pre partition era or post partition and also suggest any book for mcq please .... thanks in advance

As I have mentioned earlier I used "Struggle for Pakistan" by IH Qureshi and Pakistan Affairs by Ikram Rabbani. I didn't use any book for MCQs rather I solved past paper MCQs with the help of the aforementioned books and got some help from the web too. Same strategy of giving an introduction/
background, headings, conclusion/epitome, recommendations (if at all required) and in matter related to foreign relations, the future prospects too.

Congratulations Sir for being part of civil services!

My queries!
I have made some bullets as well as detailed notes of Pakistan Affairs from Shaikh Ahmed Sirhindi to Cabinet mission. so now should i make notes of the events of post independence?

Sir i have made a question of 8 pages of Pakistan Affairs and gave headings n subheadings too. (2 sides = 01 Page) (16 Sides=8 Pages) please tell me that if am overwriting or what should be the length of the answers?

Please tell us about the length of the answers of the questions, you wrote in the CSS 2011 in all subjects (Compulsory n optionals)

Sir if you can give a rough sketch of any answer, it will be very beneficial for all aspirants.

Regards

Dear Asif!

Length of an answer depends upon the time and one's writing speed. Although I used to 5-6 pages at the max for some questions but there is no hard and fast rule to be honest. After solving the MCQs, divide the remaining time by 4 and you will get equal time for each question. That's what I did and never sacrificed one question for another one. Give proper attention to each question and solve it according to a format which depends upon your creative sense. :). We cannot customize each and everything, some things are better left natural :)

I will prefer broad outlines instead of making detailed notes as one has to give proper time to each and every subject. But if time is no problem for you, then go ahead with making notes :) .
Sir, Did you hire a private tutor for subject(s) of Css? How did you prepare Essay paper?
No dear, I did not consult any one for Essay and Composition papers. I guess I should have concentrated more on these as my marks in Essay and composition are not up to the mark. Anyways, its not necessary to hire a tutor, you may get your essays checked through some good English teacher or any other learned person in your locality. Keep on making outlines for the past paper essays and trying collect materials for writing essay like statistics, definitions (scientific topics), Ahadith (Islamic topics), Quotations (Social and political topics) and any other information you deem necessary.

Sir Thx for ur response.

Sir What about Islamic History n culture, i mean to say what was your strategy of attempting questions in both papers I n II?

n you've mentioned the name of horton n hunt for sociology for prep. Last time i read JJ Bloch n got 46 marks in sociology. So the book (Horton n Hunt) is very lengthy so will you plz tell me the tip to read it?

Sir what is the role of writing practice daily means i am going thru past papers n solving one question daily?

I secured 25 marks in essay without outlines in CE 2011 (The Pleasures of Reading ) n 46 marks in composition in my first attempt so should i go for a teacher to take tution.

The upcoming attempt will be my last attempt so please tell me that should i join an Academy or not?

My strategy has remained the same in all the papers and I guess I have explained the strategy.

Horton and Hunt or Schaffer and Lamm for western Sociologists, Max Weber's bureaucratic theory and some topics regarding Carl Marx's theories.

Time duration and the pace of study are your domain and you have to decide what suits you best.

If you feel you cannot cope up with Essay through your personal effort, then go for it. You know yourself better :)
The upcoming attempt will be my last attempt so please tell me that should i join an Academy or not?
I have not joined any academy so I am not aware of the working procedure of academies. So I cannot comment on this.

Stay blessed and take good care of your self

British History was not my optional subject so I cannot comment on it.

For International Law, I used OH Agarwal's book, although people don't prefer it due to its complex and comprehensive outlook. I preferred it because it contains cases/examples at the end of every topic and I was saved from searching relevant cases on the web. Generally aspirants prefer Tandon and Kapoor's version.
