Shattering of dreams
@ All the csp officers and the probationers
Respected sirs/madams It is a matter of great concern that we the aspirants of css has to face.We join the civil services with great expectations and on seeing the reality our dreams are mostly shattered. To quote an example an honurable csp of 37th common Stoneager has mentions in another thread that " the other name of hell is csa" and has also mentioned " perception is different from reality" So this thread is dedicated to all the officers and probationres to share thier experiences of the shattereing of their dreams and the breaking of their hopes soo that the aspirants should be fully aware of the exact situation before taking up this gigantic task of competing in the css examination.the aspirants should not be living in the world of preception and should be living in the world of reality. regards Ali |

An other reason is very natural: On passing CSS exam we people assume ourselves as the serving ASPs, DDOs, foreign officers etc. By assuming ourselves in these capacities in our probationary period we increase our expectations. Such pre-mature expectations cause us major shocks when we come across the real life in our probationary period. Trainers and administrators always treat us like students, or trainee officers. |

@ Sameen
Yes you are quite right.Apart from the academy training in the fileds some of the dreams are also shattered. ( its just an observation or arther reality, so no offence plz) Sameen . as you have just said that the people feel themselves as ASPs, DDOs, foreign officers its quite true, because all the officers feels themselves as the above mentions officers. But in reality there is differnce between the officers belonging to these caders and the officers belonging to other caders. In terms of salary structure , perks and privildges ( vehicle, house , servants) etc . moreover there is also the difference of power associated with the posts on which an officer is posted. Nearly everbody knows about the posts of ASPs, DDOs, but very few people knows about the names of the posts which one gets after landing in the lower groups and rarely someone knows about the perks and privilidges and powers associated with these groups. So this thread is started to let the aspirants know about these things so that these people don't repent after seeing the reality once they have left their jobs in multinational companies and thier careers abroad. i hope to see a generous contibution in this regard by the officers and probationers regards Ali |

Is not CSS all about our inflated egos and try to outdo others by proving to society that i worth more than others...! I am intelligent and smart therefore should be treated as such?
After pursuing this path for more than 5 years, i have come to the above said conclusion. The class conflict which brother Ali has mentioned starts from CSA and permeates throughout ones bureaucratic career which is just a manifestation of the ego centric attitude of Civil servants that has led to a decay of good governance. Exceptions apart, people join Civil Services not to serve nation, rather than it is their innate urge for power and to become a part of Elite of our society. I may be wrong, i wish i am wrong. |

Most of the probationers are giving the same statement. What type of "sakht training" the current director is giving? Is it related to allowing the probationers to go to their homes or otherwise or what?

CSA did not use to be such a bad place. then, starting with our batch, a director came who changed all that. and she has stayed for this batch too. lets hope she does not stay for any more batches.
it all depends upon the administration how they keep the probationers. lets hope the new ones coming in the years will have a better administration. Quote:
second, the so called "lower" groups have vast powers in their own jurisdiction. I have a colleague who used to be in Information, and has joined Customs now. you'd be surprised how many calls he gets from all the police officers to get them transferred to the posts they desire. what i am trying to make you understand is this. there are pros and cons in every group. In DMG promotions are fast. in police you have raw power. but both of them require long hours, especially in police where you are supposed to be on duty 24 hours a day. if you are an Assistant Accountant General (AAG), these DMG and police officers will beg you to get their bills passed. what i am trying to tell you is that you can be very powerful within your jurisdiction. we perceive police as powerful because they are what we see on the streets everyday. now i know there are people in the academy who might act as if they are superior than the others. those people always exist. and it just shows one's level of education, and one's family backgroud. if you are from a good background, you are always going to treat your colleagues with respect. now i can tell from experience what happens to those people who consider themselves superior. most of the people shun them. and when they go into field they realize that they are not Almighty. as for the batch, most of the people describe them in words that can not be reproduced here. so use your imagination. if you want to earn respect, respect the other person first. remember, RESPECT is a two way street.
