The real and lone cause of these ill-felling is that everyone amoung us thinks for luxuries, power, status, compliments and everything else one can imagain. If the beaurucracy of our future follow the path of meekness and righteousness, i think there would be no such disappointment.

Aspirant.

No. Everyone here is asking these questions to compare the pros and cons of services and his/her current job.Everyone has the right to ask and consider the power, status, compliments and everything else one can imagain to facilitate decision making.

Shattering of dream occurs when one has an ambiguous information about services. When the aspirants enter the services with this information and they are not provided with "assumed" previliges, one gets disappointed with the services and"may" repent the decision.

So it is of utmost importance for an aspirant to get the knowledge of services in all aspects.

What a shame!!!...usually the disappointed lot is the one who entered the service for the wrong reasons...:P....and even if they are in service for power with great power comes great responsibility...(makes sence???)))

.....when i entered CSA..i saw the " Khidmat-Un-Naas logo and stickers almost in every corner of CSA...and i realized thats why i am here ...for service of the people..regardless of the groups... CONTRIBUTE...ITS NOT POWER ITS YOUR COUNTRIES TRUST IN YOU....to serve your people...
and why is it a big deal that people have to follow a strict routine....you guys will cherish this all...yes The ctp director is a difficult person to deal with but thats why she is there.....to make us learn a few things...we did..you guys will too....get real...you want to compete with the world..but are not ready to wake up on time??? i mean...sometimes things do get a bit hard to understand even at csa..but its all part of any good training insititution....

and initially i thought stp will be better or easier...NO...ITS HARDER...we have to work harder....study harder....believe me there is no comparison of CSA....enjoy it while u can.....
make friends...do things together...we miss it all so much....

And.....i have seen many people Complaining....you dont like it...leave it.....do yourself and the service a favour...!!!

GoodOmen!
U are cent percent right. Failure of expectation maketh the heart sick. Our Juvenile bearucarcy join CSA with the hope of plundering and looting. They have no altruistic and patriotic designs for the downtroden society of their country. I advise them to wait for their turn, they will get the butter as their career grow and encourage your juniors to get success.

Exclamation

heyyy guyss give me a break over here!! i guess wat ppl wanted to discuss over here is this:

We have been listening from our childhood that CSS is something WOW!!! Every 2 dads from 3 want their child to pass CSS because it is something out of this world. It has been borne in our minds that after doing it we will get a thousand facilities, cars, house, n so n soo.. Plus the academies always make us realise that how much prestigious job we are going to get after passing this paper!!

Butt when u do all the hard work n get into it u eventually realize that things are actually not that lucrative!! this is not because we r joining the civil services for looting or sth but this is bcoz when u have such a bright image of CSS in ur mind that u expect it to be actually like that but mayb unfortunately its not...

Soo 90% ppl like me give the CSS paper without knowing wat CSS really is!! they do it bcoz they have known since they were babies that CSS is SOMETHING!!

@brainy82
I would like to second your thoughts .I think its not the opportunities to blunder the wealth which shatters our dreams (by the way i think if one wants to do this he can do it in every group)
but i think its the others things which are associated with the css officers.
yes brainy you are right , we think that we will be given many facilities like car, driver, house, servants ,etc but the fact is that in majority of the groups (especially for the officers working in big cities) one does't get any of these facilities at least upto grade 19.so their dreams are shatterd.
Moreover the salary is also very low.
I do agree with the people that we are hare to do public service but we must atleast be getting enough money to make our ends meet.We do not demand lucrative pay pakages but it should to sufficent to give an officer a decent living.

well, this is my opinion others can differ.

well and if such a luxurious life is not the fate of CSPs the image of CSS for aspirants should be changed then....anybody willing to choose civil services has the right to get the actual picture....by doing sooo ppl wont enter CSS with "an elite persona" of it and their expectations wont be shattered...infact then only those ppl with strong backgrounds and who want to make a difference in the system will enter the services..
otherwise

I mean this is very natural....the cream is chosen for civil services...among thousands of ppl only 300 get there who have passed all the obstacles to reach something WOW!! and when they atually get 9000/month instead of 30,000 they were earning in the private sector!!!...i guess its very natural that their morale go down... Civil services is thought to be the most superior govt. job and the mostt lucrative one but thats only its image!!

But there is another side of the picture too!! despite of meager salaries n everything which is unexpected ppl still prefer civil services!!! Can anybody answer this???

@Sphinx

Sir i agree with you sir.I am not a CSS-qualifier but one of my friend has qualified CSS-2009.Sir i agree with you in toto that CSS-salary is pathetic.But sir you are also right that few candidates come here for salary.it is all about serving the country.I believe patriotism is the first and last refuge of a CSP.when asked why are you coming here,he says i am a patriotic man and when asked why don't you leave this job knowing that salary,perks and privileges are unsatisfactory,he replies i love my country.
But sir there is shattering of dreams for middle class.
Elite class doesn't require such measly perks offered by CSS and low social class has last hope to get them.
Thank you sir.

Sister i don't agree that cream of nation comes to CSS.Cream of nation goesto harvard,Ivy league colleges,Caltech,MIT,oxford.Yes,few dare to join CSS.But most top-notch performers don't prefer CSS.Salary is not an issue.Issue is job culture which dates back to colonial era.Tings have changed since then.

CSS does provide motivation.but certainly many facets of CSS are still hidden from us.I have appeared in CSS-2010 and i will remain committed to CSS even if they don;t pay any salary at all.

I fully agree with Pakistan Zindabad. Gone are the days when the cream of Pakistan use to sit for the CSS exam. Barring exceptions, tell me how many people from top universities like LUMS, IBA, Agha Khan, GIK, NED OR Oxford, Harvard, MIT, Cambridge clear the exam. Even if some candidates do make the effort from top universities they usually have their father or some other relative working in civil services. I remember when I told my office colleagues in a private multinational company that i want to do CSS they all were astonished and unable to understand the rational behind it. (I have my father and Uncle in civil services.)

Let’s face it. The cream do not come to CSS and that is one of the reasons why bureaucracy to deteriorating day by day. The FPSC in its annual report itself keeps on complaining over the quality of students appearing for the exam. Exceptions are there but reality is brutal
