Charges d' Affaires is an officer who acts temporarily in the absence of an Ambassador. Normally he/she is Deputy Head of Mission. In this capacity, he/she is known as Cd'A a.i (Ad Interim)... It can be a permanent thing also in Missions which have been declared as cd'A level... In that case, he/she is known as cd'A e.p. (en paid)
