Well brother as of now I would suggest OMG is much better than PMS. If you r a PCS officer it will tak eyou ages before you get promoted from grade 17 to 18. It would not be wrong saying that the apex of your service if you are a PMS officer will be reaching grade 20/21. Whereas being a CSP officer if you are a good officer you can easily reach grade 21, and 22 is a big possibility as well.

Being a csp, regardless of your occupation group, is much better than being a direct inductee in a federal department or being a provincial govt employee entering at grade 17. And OMG is a good group, all the ministry officials are from this group, ad even at preseent alot of people working in fedeal ministries at the post of Deputy, additional and joint secretaries are from OMG.

OMG has no match with PMS Officers (specially Punjab). At federal secretariate, OMG posted against the seats of DMG or vise versa many times. I personly knw many OMG officers who remained AC/DC/DDO-R/EDO etc in provinces. Moreover, promotions are so rapid in OMG in contrast with PMS. The foremost reason of the rapid promotion of OMG is the available posts. As i know the total strength of OMG is about 900. Whereas, many posts of PMS officers are occupied by CSS officers irregard of their occupational groups. All CSS officers want to be posted in punjab. So accounts group/i.tax/DMG/OMG/information group etc managed to get the seats of PMS and blocked promotion channel of provincial officers.
This is the irony of Paksitan.

Although promotions for OMG officers in recent past have been rapid, there is no future for such federal occupational groups like OMG and Information, officers from which would be posted directly to various Federal Ministries. This is because of the 18th Amendment which has transferred more than 18 subjects to the provinces. In view of this drastic change, the important and future prospects of PMS Officers have greatly enhanced. Also, DMG may face further fall from grace because the impending decision by the Supreme Court in the case between PCS/PMS Officers v. Punjab Govt is likely to favour the PCS/PMS Officers who have been denied promotions and training opportunities at the behest of DMG for quite some time.

@Kaiser A rind
MR.Khalid Toro, remained AC islamabad ,now a days in Pak secretariate ISBD, belongs to OMG. Many more precedents , if u can visit Pak sectt islamabad.

By the way,Mr. Sandhurst has brought another side of the picture. 18th amendement has empowered provincial officers and the current rift b/w PMS vs DMG in punjab seems to be ended in PMS favour.
