Neswpaper besides dawn
I am regularly reading dawn and want to read another newspaper as a suppliment. Which one is better; 'Express Tribune' or 'The News'?

Although dawn substantially serves the purpose, yet consulting the news on daily basis can help you in getting your writing expression beautiful because writing style of the news a bit interesting. Additionally, have regular touch on some of international news papers like NY times and Washington post.

ET is the popular one if compared with 'The News'. Don't know about the quality but usually most of the aspirants recommend Dawn & ET, as far as Pakistani newspapers are concerned.

I wouldn't recommend The News as it is basically Jang/Geo and you know how they are. But yes, Express Tribune and Pakistan Today are some very top class papers, in fact Pakistan Today is served in 5 star hotels in Pakistan. You can also check Daily Times, The Friday Times, NY Times and Guardian.

You are right, that is why I will advise you to concentrate on the opinion articles or editorials or international articles/features only. For example, in Dawn, just focus on Front, Opinion-Editorial and International Page, same for others.

Apart from Dawn, Foreign Policy website instills a sense of maturity in writing. I think these two sources are best.
Sent from my R8106 While looking at Dawn try to read articles of Babakhel on policing and security; Muneer Akram on International affairs; Shahid Kardar on Economy; and Ahmer Bilal Sufi on International Law. Sent from my R8106

DAWN is the sufficient source if u want to keep an eye over daily happenings.edorials help in making analysis of different events in the run.For opinion portion of dawn i have found one thing in its continuous reading. If you read opinion daily for three or four months, you will be able to make a quick analysis of the article from its writer's name.for example,if you look at a article heading written by A.G.NOORANI, you,ll guess something regarding law, jurisprudence is sure to be discussed.SO,Waisting much time on opinion is not that necessary.
The most important things to be read in dawn are its pages regarding international affairs.these always broaden understanding of international issues.
