I am new to the forum and the threads here are really helpful.

I hawe no interest in current affairs at all. I know nothing about it, can I still do CSS? I completed my MBA last year and i am planning to appear in 2011.
How can I start studying current affairs?

Which accadmies are the best in Lahore for CSS prepration?

I am planning to start the prepration for the exams, but there are a few things in my mind, I hawe seen some people who start preparing right after their exams of CSS, as they say that it is not possible to pass in the first attampt..is this really the case? I am a liitle de-motiwated.

Those who hawe passed it successfully, I would like to know ur inspiration. Why did you opt CSS?

Any kind of help would be highly appreciated!

Dear you must stick towards DAWN newspaper.I know how hard it is to read Daily DAWN but once you acquired a taste for it no doubt you can do much better in ur exams.....Before CSS 2010 exam i also think that without Dawn i can do much better but due to new exam policy every subject is so general and contemporary, so without updating our selves with latest updates in Current Affair its to hard to clear CSS exam........
You can also use
Jahngir World Times Magzine(Monthly)----150 Rs
Contemporary Affairs by Imtiaz Shahid (Bi-Monthly) 260 Rs
Contemporary Affairs by Carvan Publisher (Quarterly) 350 Rs
Current Affair Digest by Dr Safdar Mehmood (Monthly) 80 Rs
Press Review published by ISPR (Monthly) 85 Rs
Economist Magzine

One more thing start reading newspaper with articles of different writer to get information about latest issues.
for this use the following link
http://www.pkcolumns.com
and
http://www.pkcolumnist.com

Do pray for my CSS 2010 Result and CSS 2011 Exams

u hv to build interest in it.
if u can't, start it by discussing major issues with ur friends and ask them to give u more and more information about them.the current affairs and pakistan affairs are the two main subjects.u must take interest in them otherwise passing the css exam for u from written to interview is 100% impossible.
i pray for u.
Thanks.

ALLAH Bless u.

@Samana

Dear ist thing you must start developing in C.A ......lets start with watching TV News regularly and note down the important issues of the day.....Get the map of the Pakistan and World and hang it on your room wall.When ever you heard a news on any part of world or Pakistan encircle the region on map where the incident has taken place. and maintain a register for the details in date wise manner.

Try to watch programs of Hamid Mir on Geo(8 pm), Kamran Khan on Geo(10 pm)
Javaid Choudary on Express News(10 pm) Talat Hussain on AAJ TV, Kashif Abbasi on Ary one world. If you watch the news and these programs regularly then i am very much sure you will develop the taste for the current issues.You will come to know about the background of the event.

thirdly, if you dont want to read newspaper then you must be in touch with Contemporary Affairs by Imtiaz Shahid, Pres Review, Economist, World Times, Current Affair Digest, Herald(any two )

But try to develop the habit of reading newspaper daily...read the articles on different issues by writers and Inshallah you will able to grasb the Currnet Affair.....

@Samana

One of the method to develop interest in any subject is to see and analyze what is happening around us that is related to that subject's main focus. Current affairs is one of the prime example of such subjects which analyzes the issues sorrounding us.

As you have stated that you are a "pure domestic girl" with little or no interest in the CA. So one of the method is to take interst in matters relating to issues that "pure domestic girls" face (except fashion . I mean to say you have to start from somewhere and may be this is your starting point. For example I would suggest a topic "Current violence against women", as you dig deeper then you may find various reasons ranging from social to economic reasons. Then as you develop interest you may analyze those other issues like poverty, unemployment, social structure of family (issues that you may had studied in current violence against women) etc separately.

This is just an example, you may choose whatever topic you like, as the most important thing is to take first step.

Regards.

@samana

Sorry for relating you with a the girl indulged in fashions etc. It was just a light humour. No offense. Besides if you are interested in literature, then try to study the literature related to big events like World Wars, Indo-Pak partition and so forth, that may increase your interest in those issues.

Regards
