Strategic Depth: Pakistan military strategists believed that a Pashtun dominated friendly govt. in Afghanistan could provide strategic advantage in the country against its arch rival India. Because they believe that lack of geographical depth and hinterland would made Pakistan's security vulnerable in the event of a war with India. The attainment of this strategic depth had been a key element in Pakistan's Afghan policy since 1980s.
Strategic Mistrust: Suspicious between the nations of each other strategic intent, do not accept the each other's defense policies and strategies. A case in reference, "US role as East Asia's guarantor is an aspect of US policy and strategy that feeds Beijing's suspicions of Washington's strategic intent.
