An over all picture of current affairs.
Current Affairs of Pakistan
An overall picture of the current affairs of Pakistan: Completion of five year tenure by the PML(N) government is in the largest interest of Pakistan Pakistan has started its journey towards development since June 2013 There were some irregularities in the general elections 2013, but the elections were the least rigged and the most authentic elections in the history of Pakistan Dirty Politics The recent political moves by Imran Khan are blatantly harmful and dangerous Instead of making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the exemplary province, the PTI is making Punjab (the safest province of Pakistan) the battle field The path followed by Tahir-ul-Qadri is actually the path set by Imran Khan (with some alteration) From the last decade Pakistan is passing through a grave crisis. But, the main four problems are: 1. Worst Law and Order situation in Pakistan 2. Supremacy of the Constitution 3. Stable democratic government 4. Energy problem The new democratic government lead by Nawaz Sharif who sworn in on 5 June 2013 is trying to tackle these problems. Law and Order situation in Pakistan The new Pakistani government after assuming the power started dialogue with militants in Waziristan open mindedly, and the law and order situation became better for a few months, but, unfortunately, the dialogues didn't work and the militants started attacking Pakistan. Then, after the attack on Karachi airport, Pakistan launched full scale military operation against militants in north Waziristan. In Balochistan, PMLN government allow Baloch nationalists to form government with PMLN support. The idea worked and the law and order situation in Balochistan is better than the last decade. The new government also launched a targeted operation in Karachi, which is also producing favourable results. On overall basis, the PMLN government lead by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is successful in maintaining better law and order situation than the last decade in its first year. An estimate of the betterment is 30% on overall basis. Supremacy of the Constitution Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the historic figure in the history of Pakistan was successful in maintaining the supremacy of the constitution of Pakistan. The former chief justice is credited with the independence of judiciary. But, very unfortunately, few people, for their own interest, are maligning the courts and former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Pakistan government and law enforcement agencies must obey all the rulings of the courts and make Pakistan stable and stronger. Stable democratic government First time in the history of Pakistan a democratic government lead by Asif Ali Zardari, completed its tenure of five years. The opposition at that time (PMLN) also supported the PPP government to complete its tenure. But, unfortunately, the PPP government did not produce favourable results and could not addressed the problems. Besides, the government was charged with corruption and incompetency. The new Pakistani government lead by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is successful in addressing not all, but many issues and there is no corruption charges on the government at present. Pakistan Railways which was on the brink of disaster is now stable and making progress; similarly the PIA. Drone attacks which has been violating the sovereignty of Pakistan has now ended. At the time when democratic government is producing very favourable results and trying to solve the main issues of Pakistan, few people and parties are on ground to derail democracy and destabilise Pakistan. Energy problem Energy problem or power shortage has been a major problem since the last decade. At the time when Nawaz Sharif government was formed there was a shortage of 7000MW. But, the government realised the importance of this issue and launched power generation projects 0f 20,000MW. The Nawaz Sharif government is successful in addressing this issue and there is betterment of 30% in this regard in the first year, and the average load shedding comes down from 16 hours to 10 hours. Pakistan on the path towards progress! Nandipur Power Project In 2008 Pakistan signed $329 million contract with Chinese company to construct the Nandipur Power Project. But, in 2010 the machinery for the project stuck at the Karachi Port. In 2012 the company terminated the contract and demanded $40 million compensation. In June 2013, the new government renegotiated the contract to resume work. And the cost for the project rose from $329 million to $574 million due to four year delay and machinery depreciation and damages. The project will generate 425 MW of electricity and the expected completion date is December 2014. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the first turbine of the project on 31 May 2014. Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the "Icon of justice" in Pakistan. 60% Improvement In Pakistan Railways during the last one year. On average, the Karachi-Lahore journey time has been reduced from 28 to 20 hours. Besides, fares are also reduced by 20%. 0% Improvement In Health services during the last one year. 8.62 billion 1.98 billion The loss for the period Jan-Mar 2014 is reduced from Rs.8.62 billion to Rs.1.98 billion as compared to the period Jan-Mar 2013 of PIA. 20% Improvement In corruption reduction.
