Default How do I improve my Urdu?

Hi guys,

As you all know the updated English Exam features a 10 mark Urdu to English translation.

My issue is that while I can translate what I understand in Urdu quite well my Urdu is very weak, meaning what I understand is usually very limited. I am already reading the Nawaiwaqt daily and finding the meaning of words and phrases I do not understand

Is there anything else I can do? Are there any resources I can turn to (maybe something similar to Barons 3500 GRE word list, but for Urdu) ?

Any help will be appreciated.

Solve exercises from Imtiazi English Grammar Book. It is easily available in market.

Read Urdu newspaper regularly and some good books of literature if you have interest for it.
For handwriting ,practice urdu writing as much as you can.
Try to speak pure Urdu with your fellows,it will not only enhance your vocabulary but also make you more familiar with Urdu. Also Urdu Lughat will be helpful. Urdu Dictionary " Feroz ul Lughaat" is also helpful.

Thank you so much. Do you know of any urdu books available online? If I can copy the text and paste it into an online dictionary it will make things much faster.
